I'd just posted and it disappeared. Why? Has it been deemed inappropriate and removed Dave?

I have removed it as we do not want the website or MyHobbyStore open to legal action.

Just my guess but the thread seemed to be going into idle speculation as to whether another unrelated (named) company would be next - NOT a very clever thing to do. That's whats starts rumours, that when acted on, cause the the very thing that was being speculated about. The business climate at the moment is bad enough without un-informed speculative gossip causing more headaches for proprietors.

Keith

You beat me to it David - hear, hear!!

Well said Keith
When I know exactly what is happening, then I will make a proper post.
Chris Moore's father died on Saturday.
I don't want to cause Chris more grief.
regards David

I hope it wasn't my post that caused the offence, if so I apologise, but I can't see what I said that could have been offensive ?

Hi There
No one post would cause offence but if your father had just died would you want your company subject to idle speculation before the full facts were known?
regards David
Hopefully people will let it lie for a while.

Oh I had no idea (unless it was mentioned in the previous thread and I missed it), I am sorry to hear that, In which case pulling the thread was the sensible thing to do.

I think maybe we forgot the human side to all this - it must be very difficult for everyone involved.

I've never owned a Myford but from a distance I appreciated the quality, customer service and no little contribution Myfords made to model engineering.

How about a condolances thread so we can leave more appropriate comments ?

To All,
when I said "nuff sed" I meant we know all we need to know. The ramifications of what it means in a businees sense have no place here. This is an engineering website,so don't refer me to company legislation.

As my last post has been censored, might I suggest then that anyone thinking of going to Myford's sell off should phone first to check before wasting a journey. I don't think that saving members time is something that needs to be withheld from public knowledge!

I Have just read elsewhere that all the Myford spares and accessories stock has been sold to one company. This may or may not have been the gist of Chris Stephens post but I echo his sentiments as I was one of those who was contemplating a long drive to buy some spares for my machine.

Chris has it right - phone to check if what you want may be available.

Hi There
It does look like some of the spares have been sold.
There will be spares there as well as lots of machines.
No point phoning Myford as they don't know what is left.
There are still new machines available and lots of reconditioned ones as well.
regards David

Just heard from a man on my shooting site who lives near Myfords factory and called in there today that RDG of Halifax has bought most of the spares etc already.

Just read this on the myfordlathes yahoo group, this is a copy-paste jobbie:

The following was posted earlier this monring on the uk.rec.models.engineering mailing list. I have not tried to verify the comments but Mark Rand is usually a trustworthy source.

Also spoke to them today. They had no choice about selling to RDG, the liquidators have the only and final say about things. The office folks are less than happy about selling the stock to RDG due to their past practice of selling fake Myford stuff. Oh well.

The plant/machinery and any un-sold second hand machines are still available, but spares are all spoken for.

Since I'm 10 minutes from them I'll pop along with my spares requirements but its not looking promising.

Mark,

It would be incredibly helpful to the rest of us if you would get there early and let us know the state of play re spares - unless anyone else can confirm the RDG angle and so save us all a trip.

'Mark' is the author of the italicised article I copied into the post so he's not likely to get your message. Sorry, I can understand the confusion in my post.

I'm going along anyway early doors and could do a posting from there. It would be equally helpful if our Editor could confirm the story or otherwise on Friday. And I had a free pass from the wife who, when told about the closure replied 'are you going over to see if there's anything you want...........' deep joy!

This is what the man on my shooting site said.
