![]() 126 forum posts 11 photos | Hi. I have just subscribed to the new MEW digital archive. Where do I access the issues? They do not appear within the 'back issues' link under 'My Account', and all links on the home page take me back to the purchase page. I have received the email with my subscriber number (which is the same as my magzine subscriber number), so I guess the payment went through OK. Thanks, Anthony |

I don't know how this works yet.
Any problems, let us know.
I can access all issues as an administrator and they appear to be available from the back issues section of my account.
Thank you for subscribing.

I subscribe to the paper issues of MEW and am registeredon the web site.
Does one still have to subscribe "again" to view the digital issues?
I can still view the past issues but only upto issue 122 as previously.
Thanks

You should be able to access 2008 and 2009 as a subscriber.
To access from issue 1 to the end of 2007, you have to take out a digital subscriptuion.

![]() 126 forum posts 11 photos | I have now put the subscriber number into the MEW digital section under 'My Details' (I am sure the box was not there earlier when I checked)... I can still see all of the exisiting back issues of ME, and MEW back to iss. 122, but no others yet. Maybe the servers are on a Xmas slow-down..! I have logged out/in and cleared browser history since updating the subscriber number. Thanks, Anthony Edited By LADmachining on 17/12/2009 17:23:36 |

I am having the same issue as Anthony. I have taken out the additional subscription and have entered the subscription number into my account details, but can at this stage only see MEW back issues as far back as no. 122.

I can't see any problem other than you can't access the digital issues.
I will try to find out what is going on but it won't be until the morning and then
it might be difficult as the office is closed tomorrow because of moving to new premises.
Has anyone subscribed and been able to access the early issues?
regards David

![]() 5068 forum posts 3 photos | Well I have just signed up but got an email saying :- Thank you for your subscription. YOUR EXPIRY ISSUE: To be advised by post. YOUR SUBSCRIPTION NUMBER: To be advised by post. Magazine:MODEL ENGINEERS WORKSHOP DIGITAL ARCHIVE When I tried earlier today I got the same as Anthony in post #1 and the same number but this just bought me another subscription to the paper copy of MEW. The web page isn't very clear at all. The first part of the first page says are you a subscriber, click here to extend you subscription. However no one can extend thier DIGITAL subscription as it's only just come out. Clicking this will extend your paper subscription. You need to go down and select the pay by CC or DD, I did this and got the Dear John message. Hardly digital if we have to wait until after Santa has been to get a letter.!! John S. |

23 forum posts | Hi David If I correctly understand your response to Gordon, If I take out a cheap(er) subscription to the digital edition of MEW, I get to view all back issues from 1 to the end of 2007. If I take out a more expensive subscription to the paper edition, I don't get to access those issues. Is that correct??!! Tom P.S. If I take out a digital subscription, do I get to download an electronic copy of the mag., as one can with many magazines that provide digital subscriptions, or do I just get to access it online? 1723 forum posts | Sorry DC1, still think that it would have been more sucessful to sell hard copy CD?DVD's cos looking at the front page of the site today the ad. looks a right pigs ear. We might like to rocket into the digital era, but untill the basics are sorted the website designers need to go back to school.

Response from management below. Don't know if it will work though.
We are working on it.
regards david
Right, he needs to log into his ME account and go into My details (from the menu by their photo) and paste the subscriber number they will have received in an email (or later in the post) into the MEW digital subscriber box. When they have saved this, they need to click on the back issues link (again in the menu next to the photo) to view back issues.
If they do not get their subscriber number, as long as they registered the same details when purchasing as in their ME account, they should get a grace period of about a week whereby they can access the issues without a subs number whilst it is being sent in the post.
All of this should be displayed on a thank you page at the end of the payment, which, when i tested earlier i dont think it did - i will email CDS and Mark about that bit - maybe thats whats causing the problems? Get them to try the above instructions and see if they can see them - im assuming they have not already tried this..... |

I did the initial home page advert in the middle pod.
What is wrong with it?
If I know, I can change it.
I had nothing to do with the subscription page itself.

To help with the fixing process.....
When I took out the additional subscription for access to the archive, I got an email through similar to that when I originally took out my subscriptions for the paper versions of ME and MEW and this gave me a subscription number, which was in fact identical to my existing number. Entering that into my details pane was the first thing I did and as you saw, I am unable to access the MEW back issues earlier than 122.
One interesting thing was although the email talked about the electronic archive it seemed to indicate that I would be receiving copies from a date in February. Below is a copy of that part of the email.
Thank you for your subscription.
Your Subscription Number: 00XXXXXXXX PLEASE QUOTE THIS IN ALL COMMUNICATIONS. Start Issue: FEB 2010 delivered on or around 01/02/2010. Expiry Issue: JAN 11 ISS 172 delivered on or around 17/12/2010. Magazine:MODEL ENGINEERS WORKSHOP DIGITAL ARCHIVE YOUR NAME & ADDRESS:
Hope this helps.
Regards
Pete

![]() 126 forum posts 11 photos | Hi David, Thank you for your help in trying to get this sorted. i have tried the instructions in your message posted 19:30:04. Here is an edited version of the email I received from subscription.co.uk after paying for access. "Thank you for your subscription. Your Subscription Number: 00xxxxxxxx PLEASE QUOTE THIS IN ALL COMMUNICATIONS. Start Issue: FEB 2010 delivered on or around 01/02/2010. Expiry Issue: JAN 11 ISS 172 delivered on or around 17/12/2010. Magazine:MODEL ENGINEERS WORKSHOP DIGITAL ARCHIVE YOUR NAME & ADDRESS: MR ANTHONY xxxxx Address Postcode Payment: xxxx £29.00 " Do the expiry dates mean anything? Have I paid for another paper subscription? I assume the system knows I am already a subscriber as it gave me the same subs number. I can't see anything wrong with the scan on the homepage either! @ Circlip - even if you got the mags on DVD, they would still be a 'right pigs ear' as they would no doubt be scanned from the same original magazine. Thanks, Anthony |
