presumably it either cannot or does not wish to conform to EU and current UK laws re privacy and/or content - I wonder why? - my own take is that too many US based sites require to sell your privacy as they are socially amoral at best and immoral at worst

Before this gets too "us and them", the same thing has happened to me the other way round on a number of occasions. Often, but not always, it's content such as streaming video from sites like BBC or ITV.

I get a sense that it's becoming more common in both directions.

Yes, I get it on a couple of the cycling streaming channels, they tend to "Geoblock" if one of the national TV etc providers is doing live coverage which is understandable as they no-doubt pay more for the exclusive coverage..

You could set up a VPN and set it for the States of you visit a lot of American sites...

Accessing without problems from Switzerland (not in EU). Let's hope they realise the change soon...

if it is trying to sell pharmaceuticals then EU + UK laws are especially strict and thus I suspect it doesn't want to waste time on places it can't legally sell to - there might well be legal implications under EU law if it offered paid for medical advice
