10668 forum posts 2415 photos | I bought my last from Warco, a few years ago and still going strong. I lashed out and bought a bi-metallic. The carbon steel blade that came with my saw worked well enough to prove the machine cut metal, but didn't last long. Probably about as cheap as possible to prove the saw worked out of the box, but not much longer! It broke at the weld and lost teeth like yours. My band-saw was by far the worst of my Chinese tools, pretty crude throughout. It ticked when the blade weld went over the drive wheel, and cut sideways. However, filing off a tiny casting ridge on the drive wheel and tweaking the tracking made it cut straight without breaking the weld. The other important change was the casting didn't quite allow enough room for the tension adjuster to fully relax, putting a fair amount of stress on blades during installation. Filing a couple of millimetres off the casting fixed that too. My favourite tool now - not because it's beautifully made, but because it works and saves so much time. Can't remember the last time it needed attention. Dave |

1346 forum posts 15 photos | I bought my Chinese bandsaw from Chester, many moons ago, never had any real problems with it, and I use it quite a lot. The fact is that the machine is only as good as the blade, either bench saw or bandsaw, wood or metal. Bad or cheap blades are a waste of both time and money. Good quality sawblades for the bench saw and likewise for the bandsaw are cheaper in the long run and perform better too. So, go for Bimetal blades. Just my experience !. |

![]() 550 forum posts 190 photos | I always go for a branded quality blade, such as a Starrett bi metal (M42) and choose the combination tooth type (14/18 or 6/10). I get mine from J and L in Wednesbury (now taken over by MSC). Cheap blades are a waste of time and money. |
