Hi,

Do any of you clever people out there know, if the Warco "Dickson" type QCTP from a WM240 will fit the WM250?

Many thanks.

May need some modification, as they use different code numbers for the 240 and 250 there are going to be slight differences usually in the hole size for the mounting stud.

An email to Warco should get you the Information you require? Or ring 01428 682929.

I have always found them very helpful.

I have just bought a 250-100 series for my WM250. The quoted dims for the tool height seemed the best fit for the centre height.

But . . I'm having an issue with boring out the holder to fit the 21.9mm boss on the cross slide though, it is made from a hardened metal that HSS and Carbide don't seem to touch . .

Out of interest anyone had a similar grey matter challenge ?

Should I invest in a Cobalt tool, (nit easy to find it seems) or would an index boring bar be better ?

Usually hardend but not excessively so. A carbide tip in an indexable holder will be more likely to cut it than one with cobalt.

I reduced the boss dia on my 280.

Fitted a QCTP to my 280 last year. Should have been possible to remove the post and boss by removing a roll pin from underneath. , knocking it out and reducing the size. Since it had been fitted with the aid of a large hammer i had to take an alternative route.

Turned up a filing button that just fitted into the tool post base. Made one edge of a file " safe" with the aid of a griind ] stone and filed the boss down to size.!!!!! Since I was left with the existing stud, which was too short , I had to make an extension to fit down inside the tool post with a new handle on the top. A bit of a fiddle but it worked well.

I have a WM250C-F & I fitted a 'Bison' version of the Dickson QCTP when I swapped out the original 4 way t/post ; I had to machine the boss off the compound slide & fit a new t/post bolt to fit the 'Bison' QCTP. I still have the original toolpost & if I ever need it I will simply make an insert to fit & fill the gap.

Thanks for all the replies, very helpful.

A tct tipped shattered, but more than likely that was due to trying g to take to big a cut frown

I ended up trying a cobalt steel blank, grinding the end to shape, it works but loses its edge quite quickly, its slow going but getting there.

Steve.
