Is it possible to buy a i inch reamer with a no.2 morse taper ? All those I have seen so far on line are no. 3 morse tapers.

Mike.

I doubt it but someone may find one, that's a fair old diameter for a # 2 morse taper.

You could always turn a 3MT down to 2MT.

Or use a 3-2MT reducer. Might need a longer lathe, or taller milling machine, and a ‘lead-in’ to get the reamer on centre height.smiley One is not cutting much metal with a reamer, so a lowish powered lathe would cope.

Are you looking for the MT part to be aligning the reamer? There are other methods and any flex in the setup with it that rigidly held might be a problem.

Just looking for a 1" reamer that will fit my pedestal drill or my Boxford tail post.

If all fails, I can visit my friend who had a Bridgeport mill.

The standard taper for 1" reamers is 3MT. Instead of turning down a 3MT to 2MT consider buying a straight shank reamer and turn the end of the shank to a diameter that fits your chuck.

I use MT 3 reamers up to 1.250" and including 1" in my Boxford tailstock.

Just buy a MT 3 -2 reducer, plenty of room.

Hi, have you tried Tracey Tools in Torquay, they often have non-standard items, usual disclaimer.
