How to make a silicone soldering brush.
You won't believe just how well these work. I wished I'd had one of these years ago. No more burnt small paintbrushes and you can custom make any size of these you wanted, thick bristles, thin bristles, solid etc etc
A great bit of kit!

I've tried all manner of things like that before, they don't work as well as this does.

They are also very popular with woodworkers for glue brushes. You can pay over a fiver for these in some places or get them for 90p from the Swedish Shop. wink

I use the cooking ones for wood glue as they have the longer softer bristles.

Making the ones like I did in the video allows you to customise the length, thickness, shape and stiffness of the bristles.

I thought I had found a great source of material, here: **LINK**

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/50-PCS-Silicone-Lure-Weedless-Rubber-Spinnerbait-Skirts-Jig-Fishing-Accessory/303116577249

But the dimensions in the description don't seem to match the illustration

... has anyone used these, and if so ... what diameter are they question

I think that material would be to soft and flexible Michael?

The silicone that I used had a wall thickness of 1/32"

Its available in any of the $2 shops in the kitchen section.

You could make 10-20 brushes from one $2 purchase, so you would be able to make as many custom shapes as you could need.

.

Maybe

... I didn't get that far in my musings, because the diameter stated is so obviously wrong.

.

P.S. I was looking for a more convenient source of 'bristles' not a cheaper one.

Michael, I think they should be 0.8mm / 0.030"

I think you're right, Jason [near enough for rubber]

... otherwise the bloke in the picture must have a very big hand surprise
