Hi All,

I am into my second digital only subscriptions of ME and MEW after taking the printed magazines for many years. Although not as good as printed copies the digital magazines are convenient from the point of view of storage and unreliability of the post between UK and Australia.

My problem is that the new format of the online versions is harder to read than the previous and that there is no option to print individual pages and articles.

When I try right click and print (in Windows 10) only part of a given page is printed.

Is anyone else experiencing these problems and has anyone found a work round?

Are you referring to viewing and printing using Pocket Mags (app (Win10) or in web bowser) or the Digital Archives on this site?

The current version of the new Web Application that replaces flash, currently does not support printing but this is being worked on, refer this link https://www.model-engineer.co.uk/forums/postings.asp?th=140397

For Pocket Mags view in a Web browser I print using Chrome and the Save to PDF option. You can only select up to 2 pages at a time.

Thanks Peter,

I use the the Archive on the ME/MEW website. I haven't worked out how to use the Pocket Mags site yet - do the printed pages come out in better resolution from there?

Regards;

Joe

I find PocketMags prining is usually stable.

To use it you need to create an account on their website, one created you add the subscription using the subscription number on this site.

You can print up to 2 pages at a time.

Hello Joseph,

The Pocketmags viewer is the best way to view and print your subscription copies.

The archive is intended as a bonus giving access to old issues rather than as the chief viewer for your subs copies. We are looking at a way to provide a print facility for recent issues on the archive.

... but only for recent issues ?

BTW try running PocketMags on Windows 8 (or any other version of Windows before 10 as far as I know).

We are supposed to be able to read Pocketmags while offline but I cannot find instructions on how to do it.

From Pocketmags FAQs:

By the way, anyone with a current digital subscription can view and print their subscription copies using pocketmags.

Is that a page by page or full magazine print?

I to have been having digital app woes AGAIN, crashing on starting, slow to load in Pocketmags, slow to locate in Pocketmags, then yep slow to load the mags I have in My Library. No matter if its on PC or tablet. When the crash box lol not synchro obviously gives me option to notify I type "Fix the bloody thing".

Now from what i have been informed in the past all 3 app's ME, MEW & P/Mags are all the same utter BS as they run sepperate and Pocketmags is full of add's for other mags on font page. Ok so background etc is/maybe. So if Pocketmags reader can read all magazine why can't we have one reader app for ME & MEW of the other verity?

On top of this my snail mail mags have all come within 2 weeks 4 ME and 2 MEW yep can blame local post, international post even distributors will never now for sure who's fault it is.

Jason,

Your screen shot is from the Pocketmags web page reader, NOT the offline viewer where there is no means of printing which seems to destroy the whole point of using the Pocketmags app to store the magazines locally!

Neil did not mention the Pocketmags offline viewer in that paragraph which was the one raymond was asking about it doing single page or whole mag. Probably why it is called a "viewer"

The reason to store them locally is that you can read them when you are somewhere that does not have internet access or use up your data allowance if out and about which means you probably won't have access to a printer either.
