After watching a demonstration of one of my drones flying an autonomous (pre-programmed) inspection of his cherry orchard my farmer friend's son pointed me towards this scary presentation about lethal autonomous micro drones. **LINK**

Mankind will be exterminated by its own inventions ..

One fault with the facial recognition is if the head is covered by something like a mask or helmet it doesn’t work !

Until they are programmed to exterminate any with such masks.....

It's our nature to worry, just imagine what it was like 1939 to 1943.

I assume a slip of the finger, the war certainly did not end in1943!

I was asked to film the cherry orchard because my friend's property is quite close to this location **LINK** and his 19 y/o son is very concerned about his future so they want to compile an historical record of their orchard.

It was only after watching me input the GPS waypoints into a Google Earth map of his parent's farm to my laptop and then just hitting the start icon to autonomously fly the mission that I was asked about this technology and he pointed me towards the video. His question was "Is this really true?"

Unfortunately, the technology is evolving at a scary pace so the lad has a lot to worry about. These systems are already in place **LINK**and remember, these are only the ones that have had the information released to the public.

I might be well past the halfway point to my 'use by' date but I can well understand the concerns of the young man and I sympathise with his apprehensions.

No not a slip of the finger, I was trying to be too clever, the threat of invasion was gone by 1943.

Just a thought along those lines ;

It has come to light that criminals are using drones to check out properties in rural areas around here,looking for trailers,ride-on mowers,quads ect,which are not always on view from the road.

If we have them,I,m sure you have too,Just be careful to lock up your gear.sadsad

In 1943 the UK still had the the V1 and V2 onslaught to cope with. The Pulse Engined V1 could be countered with AA gunnery to some degree but the V2 rocket was beyond any effective counter action. Over 1,000 V2 struck the south east of England killing many thousands of civilians. An attempt was made to report the fall of these rockets in the press as being south of the capital in order to convince the Germans to erroneously increase the range and thereby strike north of the capital in less populated areas. All in all, '43 '44 and '45 still held much to worry about.

I'd expect that electronic countermeasures capable of disabling drones' internal controls or jamming their GPS interaction will shortly emerge. It'll probably be possible to circumvent that, but it might make it too expensive to be murdering dissident students.
