![]() 2095 forum posts 75 photos | XD, Thanks, in his article he has modified his saw which is identical to mine and I want to know which way his blade runs, my blade cuts on the forward stroke but the previous owner replaced the motor so I dont know if its cutting the right way. The saw was supplied by A Spalding and Son of Lincoln, with a spec plate giving a serial no 963694, who cant be found on the internet or BT directory enquiries The reason I'm wondering about direction is wether it would cut better the other way. NOT DONE IT YET, I dont have any contact details as there are none in the article. Martin P Edited By martin perman on 13/12/2018 14:24:16 Edited By martin perman on 13/12/2018 14:25:25 |

1346 forum posts 15 photos | Martin, I thought I had answered that question for you. Your saw does cut on the forward stroke, they all do. Looking at your machine from the left hand side, looking at the belt drive, your motor should be turning anti-clockwise. Check it out ! |

![]() 2095 forum posts 75 photos | Larry, Looking at the belt drive my motor is turning clockwise, how do the saws cut if they have a vertical bandsaw table then surely they would cut to the rear, mine has the fixings for a table I didnt get. Do you want your magazine back as I need you to confirm your address please as its almost unreadable on envelope. Thanks Martin P |

7517 forum posts 20 photos | Yes, the forum is pretty well useless for finding a post by any particular poster - unless you can remember a topic on which they posted, then it is easy. |

1346 forum posts 15 photos | If you want to use your saw in the vertical mode, the teeth must be facing you,and pointing down ! How could you use it if the blade was facing backwards ? |
JasonB | 13/12/2018 19:25:54 |
![]() 25215 forum posts 3105 photos 1 articles | The blade should pull the work towards the large solid fixed vice jaw so in operation the exposed blade is moving towards the pivot eg away from you which will become downwards when in vertical mode. Dead easy to message anyone if you know their user name, no need to find a post. Just click the message member icon under any post, delete the name that comes up and start typing the name of who you want, it will start prompting all the davids etc. Can't actually track down any posts by him. ![]() 19226 forum posts 749 photos 86 articles | I can pass on emails to Dave. My email details are here: www.model-engineer.co.uk/editorial/page.asp?p=227 But the answer, as others have said, is that the cutting blade should move towards the driving pulley, and the vice is, as Jason says, normally arranged so this is also towards the fixed jaw.. ![]() 2095 forum posts 75 photos | Gentlemen, Thank you, you have confirmed my thoughts and I now have clarification which gives rise to the next question, how does one swap the direction of the motor, swapping the live and neutral seems to simple particularly as the wavy electricity travels through the wires exactly the same. The motor is a capacity run motor. Thanks, Martin P |

Wow! Dead easy when you know how! I wonder how many on the forum knew that? So back in Martin’s court, but apparently it may not help him anyway! Edit: jb was clearly waiting on a reply and jumped in before I had a chance to realise my wording was a little off. Edited By not done it yet on 13/12/2018 20:34:45 |
