img_1550.jpgimg_1549.jpgHi gents,

not got a bald clue as to the identity of this tool.

It is well made but has no markings at all, its not an accurate measuring tool but I did wonder if it was for setting something up.

the long end unscrews to open the centre slot which is sprung. it operates a bit like a tap wrench but its clearly not of that family.

Any suggestions gratefully accepted.img_1548.jpg

Wow over 300 views and not an opinion ventured. Must be a record.
I'm still in the dark as to it's possible use but I'm sure it will become clear.

You may have found the Holy Grail - a tool that no-one can identify!

Does the short end swivel at right angles to the long handle? It looks as if bits of the handle unscrew possibly so it can be used in a confined space. An adjuster of some kind? Could it be for adjusting the tension of wires used to brace wood frame aircraft? Or forming piano wire?

Baffled.

No idea at all. It does look as if something is missing- the "radius" on the two jaws looks to made to fit to something ?

The shape of the jaw looks like it could hold a woodruff key.

Cropping a couple of the pics followed by a "reverse image search" on Google gives no clue either !

Where did it come from and was it amongst other stuff. If so what.

The upper tool in the photos, I think, is a measuring stick. Although it's got the proper numbers along the bottom

What is the "bruising" between the two knurled sections on the LH handle. With a Swiss file, test how hard the centre 'link' is.

This doesn't help, but would give us a whole load more to think about.

A bore gauge? Are the knurled bits removable in stages? do you measure between the two points?

I can think of many a better implement to deal with that scumbag! Have you seen the shrine to him? Disgusting!
Still clueless on the tool so I will post more images and do some research.

It's an epilator for engineers.

Just hand it to a group of them and watch as they tear their hair out trying to figure out what it is. smile p

Put a replacable hooked blade in the centre and attach to the rim of an industral sized baked bean can and oscillate..

I think you have bits missing which would solve the mystery as to what this tool is. I think its a bore gauge. This link may help

What a shame the label is damaged.

Maybe we could contact the people who've bid on it. Maybe someone knows what they've bid on.
