They look very much like these:

I'd have said the AD.. suffix was a clue. Available in two sizes from JB - you'll have to get the tape measure out.

It looks old and obsolete so you would probably spend more on inserts than it's worth.

The most popular modern cutters use inserts like the AP** style and you can get them from many outlets. Search for something like "BAP300R 50-22-4" which would be a 50mm diameter cutter with 22mm arbor hole and 4 inserts AP**1135 or the "BAP400R etc" which take the larger AP**1604 inserts. I believe these are based on a Mitsubishi design but I may be wrong.

For steels you might go for coated APKT style and for loominum you might want uncoated APGT. You can get these on ebay, Aliexpress and other places closer to home such as APT Tools, who stock these and other modern types.

Looks like an early Iscar Helimill. Not in my catalogue and inserts listed all have chip breaker rather than flat faced inserts as on you example. What are the dimensions of the inserts as fitted?

Andy Sproule, Thanks for quick reply. My model isn't there.

Hi Andy. I think you will find that your facemill takes the same tips as in the link I gave you. If you post the dimensions I may have something suitable you could try. (no promises tho )

No, Oldiron, the inserts you linked to are modern, positive rake things which are much more advanced than the flat faced, zero rake inserts in the photos. They will generate lower cutting forces and produce a better finish under most conditions. Whether or not they fit is unclear but it seems unlikely.

Unless you are nostalgic about old, inefficient tools, you'd be better putting that tool on the mantle piece - or possibly filing it.

These look more like whats in the holder.

Why not contact Iscar and see if they can tell you the old number and then have a google to see if any crop up but as Murray says you can get a 50mm head, arbor and box of inserts for less than what a couple of iscar inserts will set you back.

I suspect you'll be really surprised at the price of the type of cutter Muzzer is suggesting. I am likely to order a BAP300R 50 22 with MT3 mandrel and 10 inserts, I don't expect to have to pay more than £28 inc postage from China. It makes looking for replacement, poor shape, inserts for my Warco face mill seem utterly pointless. Replacement inserts can be as low as £6.50 for 10. And, no, they are not a pile of horse manure - who do you think makes 90% of inserts worldwide? Same people as makes the iPhone, the Chinese.

Regards

Richard.

Andy, I used to buy my Iscar inserts from Cromwell tools, there may be a branch close to you who can help.

Have just ordered... Cost £28.82p, the exchange rate is fractionally worse today than yesterday.

As a comparator pricewise, the face mill it'll replace is currently sold by Clarke (Part No. 7610322) and costs from £54.

Regards,

Richard.

2 min check found plenty that will fit, last hell of a lot longer and far better than any cheap chinese tool not mentioning the inserts. Dont under estimate a quality tool usually in a different league to various links and names above, been there done it false economy wasting that £28.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ceratizit-ADKT-1505PDSR-29-CTP1235-tips-inserts-cutting-3-33-Each-VAT/253193746523?hash=item3af385f85b:g:4DMAAOSwj9dZ1z1~

Tips look wrong in that Iscar by fit still a quality tool and will take modern stuff. Its just the angle in this case, size, thickness and hole size.
