Britain invents worlds most advanced head protection technology

A Wolverhampton man who cemented his head inside a microwave said he "doesn't care" what people think.

Jay Swingler, 22, had to be freed by firefighters after the stunt, filmed for his YouTube channel, took a dangerous turn.

He said emergency services' time was not wasted, because "they saved my life".

West Midlands Fire Service said it would not charge the £650 deployment fee as his life was in genuine danger

What a shame the emergency crew turned up so quickly. Bad day for the gene pool.

But age does not weary them. This report in from Sydney this week:

The 73-year-old Castle Hill backyard tree surgeon took his highly unorthodox and highly dangerous tool into battle last Monday and when ambulance crews arrived they found he’d nearly cut right through his lower left leg instead of the tree trunk."

Idiot. Apart from the obvious missing guard protection, he was seriously over-speeding that blade. Likely no eye protection either!

I once came across a night shift worker cutting stone with a diamond toothed blade - again oversized blade for the machine and no guard. I told him to refrain (as the gang had done more repair work than required and the rest had 'got their heads down' for the rest of the shift - an accepted practice - and it was 'homework', warning him of the consequences of a slip. I dare say he was at the same thing on other shifts as he was working permanent nights. 9" blade in a 7" saw, as I recall.

I know a bloke who fitted a 5 inch grinder with a tct blade to cut aluminium bar he decided to hang on to the piece of bar with one hand and the grinder with the other - it bit in and flung the grinder back plowing through his jaw and into his neck almost reaching his jugular .

At work we have banned all but one 9 inch grinder for cutting stuff and it has a kick back protection device on it - it is only to be used where all other avenues of cutting won't work .

The guy who concreted his head in a microwave has rocks in his head !

I think Mr Swingler has deserves an Honourable mention in the Darwin awards!

He was lucky it was filler and not plaster that heats up as it sets. This sad story from 2007 should be enough to discourage anybody from that kind of activity. **LINK**

That saw blade reminds me of my Mother-in-law !

Cynthia plaster caster must have had some customers hopping about if the plaster got too warm. I thought plaster of Paris was made for repairing humans so should not do too much harm.

It seem she used a dental mounding material rather than plaster of Paris and repairing broken bones was done in a controlled way.

It just gets worse. Microwave-head has posted online what happened. He had his head fully encased in polly filler and was breathing through a plastic tube when the stuff set and somehow plugged up the plastic tube. So his mates had to chisel a hole for him to breathe through while emergency crews were on way.
