Does anyone know of the best price for 7.25" copper tube about 30" long and would 1/8" be strong enough for a loco boiler?

try Blackgates, but 71/4" pipe may not exist which may leave you with design issues.

Fizzy on here makes boilers

M-Machine lists 7" C106 tube in their metals catalogue, have you asked them for a price?

Try P&P Non-Ferrous Metals tel 01384 868080 . They a have a large range of tube and I found their prices quite reasonable .

I have no connection other than being a satisfied customer .

7.25" * 10 swg should be OK at 100 psi, but discuss with your club boiler inspector before committing a large amount of money. If you intend to operate in public you will need insurance, and the best way is to join a ME club and use their's. Sounds like this isn't a standard design or you wouldn't be asking the question.

There is a clue in the question:

Does anyone know of the best price for 7.25" copper tube about 30" long and would 1/8" be strong enough for a loco boiler?

It is just a larger version of the copper tube you use for your models Brian.

I am sure it is not manufactured to satisfy the demand from the model market, it must have uses in the industrial and scientific equipment market but I can't say I have seen it used.

7.25" isn't available here, the size goes from 6" to 8", and then 10" 12". There seems to be nothing in NZ that is near 7", and I think the range of sizes held by my local supplier would be fairly international, so you may need to roll your own.

Hi, I have a short piece of 4" copper pipe that came from a canning factory, which no longer exists, which I believe carried water for food processing. I dare say that larger sizes were also used and I suspect many food factories had large copper pipes at one time, and maybe even Whisky producers would use such sizes.

Regards Nick.

Been having a look around, and you may find 180 mm dia copper tube, the place I looked had a minimum order of 500kg, but someone must have 30 inches of it.
