5307 forum posts 83 photos | 7.25" * 10 swg should be OK at 100 psi, but discuss with your club boiler inspector before committing a large amount of money. If you intend to operate in public you will need insurance, and the best way is to join a ME club and use their's. Sounds like this isn't a standard design or you wouldn't be asking the question. |

What is large diameter copper pipe of that size usually used for ? There is a clue in the question: Does anyone know of the best price for 7.25" copper tube about 30" long and would 1/8" be strong enough for a loco boiler? It is just a larger version of the copper tube you use for your models Brian. |

![]() 7468 forum posts 230 photos | 7.25" isn't available here, the size goes from 6" to 8", and then 10" 12". There seems to be nothing in NZ that is near 7", and I think the range of sizes held by my local supplier would be fairly international, so you may need to roll your own. Ian S C |

What is large diameter copper pipe of that size usually used for ? Hi, I have a short piece of 4" copper pipe that came from a canning factory, which no longer exists, which I believe carried water for food processing. I dare say that larger sizes were also used and I suspect many food factories had large copper pipes at one time, and maybe even Whisky producers would use such sizes. Regards Nick. |
