It ran so nice at Southport axle pump and Injector borrowed from Julian Atkins worked.

Ran for an hour and a half so good,

I had bought another injector from ebay a 24 ounce Ben Pavior fitted for me from BP Steam would not pick up.

Fitted the borrowed one from Julian picked up clean so happy.

But why oh why do so many injectors fail i thought it might be me so got BP Steam at southport to fit and try.

Just sending it back hoping they will send a working one for me.

Hi Ron!

I very much enjoyed the clips you sent of the 5"g Black 5 running.

You perhaps ought to clarify that the injector Ben fitted that didn't work wasn't one supplied by him, but was one you bought off a reputable ME supplier off eBAy. I think that is the 3rd injector you have bought that won't work. £150 plus wasted which is scandalous. Glad to hear that one of my own of some age is doing the necessary and working ok.

Cheers,

Julian

Yes it was a great run at last very surprised the brand new Injector from EBay did not work came from Barmouth. I got Ben to fit it for me as I thought I might be doing something wrong when fitting.Ben fitted for me to make sure pipe work or in case of Air leak. That's the 5 one to fail on me I had two more before the three I sent you. Hard to beleive so many sold that will not work. It was the first time I was able to Run it Properly and it was exiting. After Ben changed the Blast nozzle for a smaller one and removed the taper insert in the chimney it ran like clockwork. I was amazed at how powerful it pulled after also how little coal it used to before. So nice to have one I can now enjoy using. Ron

Well done Ron, and thanks to Julian for helping you out.

All you need now is to set the clock to the right time

Yes it's been a long time coming.

Ben Pavier of BP Steam finally sorted the last few problems for me.

I had a Taper liner I was told to fit in Chimney he removed that.

He then lowers and fitted a smaller blast pipe nozzle.

He raised the grate as it was to low and fitted to me pop Safty Valves hi now only drops 5 psi from 90 .

It now holds steam well fire lasts ages steams really well so please last time I Ran it for hour and a Half.

Looks a lovely bit of work. Well done indeed.

I think injectors have always been temperamental beasts, even the full sized ones were cause for blasphemous language from what I remember as a lad when some ancient industrial boilers still used them and from what I have seen on restored full-size steam machinery in more recent years.

One of the great pleasures in life driving a steam loco with injectors that pick up, nodoubt Ben will be getting

a box of chocholates for christmas, but it is now a labour of love to keep a steam loco in tip top working order

there is always something to fix or improve, but that is fun bit.

Yes I have seen so many times injectors won't pick up but at least I now have my Axle pump working thanks to Ben

I don't mind feteling it to keep her running nice now I have it steaming well.

I found it so frustrating getting water into the boiler my uncle made the rolling chassis some 55 to 60 years ago but he never put o rings in the pump.

Ben machines and fitted new o rings it now pumps lovely.

Now I need to get used to driving and firing it a little more practise now it's all working.

Got to try the two new Injector pumps steam fittings sent me hoping they will pick up ok.

Just waiting for the paint to really harden of before putting a fire.back in it.

Yes without Julian and Ben would have been struggling for years to come. I can now enjoy all the hard work sleepless nights. Roll on 16 at Nantwich just wish we had not lost the use of our Lovely Rugeley track. We now just go to invited Clubs and Nottingham Club.
