1817 forum posts 2 photos | Simple question. I have been screwcutting with HSS bits, jig ground to the correct angles. I am reasonably pleased with the results. I just thought that I would give an indexable carbide tool a go for comparison. I am having difficulty in finding a supplier for the tip angles required. Anyone point me in the right direction? Thanks, Andrew. |

![]() 2904 forum posts 448 photos | There's also Cutwel if you want to go professional (Korloy / Vardex) - and APT in Glasgow. Note that there are dedicated nserts for each individual size (M3, M4 etc) and profile (ISO, Whit etc). Given the price of these things, you could spend a lot of money just buying a few common sizes. A compromise is to (instead) buy "agnostic" or "partial profile" inserts that can cut a range of sizes. Obviously the thread form is slightly non-optimal (sharper root radius) but that's not an issue for us. Murray |
