I've had good luck with Gumtree, it works well for me. 

Purchased my mill from an add on  lathes .co.uk

With Ebay and paypal it's about 23%

Lathes.co.uk is £38.40 per advert for 6 months but the problem is they often don't remove them to pad the pages out so you get hounded.

Yes eBay charges but it reaches a big audience and because it's an auction you will probably get a better price. If you set your own price on a classified site you can be too low and not know it, or too high and not sell.

More like 14% (Actually seller's fee on eBay are 10% of final value including P/P and PayPal's are 3.4% + 20p).

Have sold a fair bit of machinery on ebay, it's free and safe if you use your loaf and play the system

Presumably by breaking the ebay rules, like some Traders eg "Please phone me before clicking Buy It Now"

I simply include a telephone number in case interested parties have any questions about the machine......nothing wrong with that surely.

If you are advertising do put some effort in to it. I can't stand the people who slap a ruler somewhere in the picture because they are too bone idle to measure it. Or provide a blurred picture of a motor plate or other item reliant on reading what they can't be bothered to copy into the text description.

It is also irritating when there is no photo with the advert

Not to mention when they are too lazy to rotate their pics. Do they seriously think I'm going to lie sideways just to look at their ad?

Thanks for all the replies chaps - ebay seems to be the most popular suggestion by quite a long way.

If your selling on ebay ALWAYS insist on paypal. It sorts the genuine bidders from the dreamers and you get paid before collection, hence no tyre kickers or bartering.

Rotating photos................

I have a policy, that anything that needs rotating is hiding something and therefore not worth looking at in the first place.

It is generally motorbikes on EBAY i look at, but its simple basic good avertising, or am i just old fashion or just too lazy to do it for myself.

For mills drills lathes grinders etc I find the sales and wants on Traction Talk is very good The site for for full size and model traction engine enthusiasts,
