Ask at the counter, it may be lost or perhaps that branch didn't get its allocation.

Err...two different branches, my local in Hull, and another in Northampton.....both not receiving their allocation?

My Hull branch are still displaying the previous issue....

You didn't say it was two different branches...

I'm not aware of any general supply issues. It's possible that Hull has lost/not got/misplaced the new issue and Northampton has sold out or some other permutation.

You can get a single back issue here:

mags-uk.com/browse-by-title/model-engineer.html

They also deal with MEW back issues.

The real answer is, of course, to take out a subscription

Nice try, but I'm afraid the content of the magazine ( ME and MEW) doesnt  appeal sufficient to warrant a subscription, a sentiment I think may be shared by other readers...

John,

A sentiment quite possibly felt by some readers ( not myself I hasten to add) but an odd one for you to share if the final two comments in your original post are to be believed. Anyone with a cynical nature might assume you are upset at not having a copy to thumb through at WHS then put back on the shelf having had a free read! wink

Martin.

Martin,

FWIW,

I'm waiting on the final instalment of the tender for Idris by Martin Ranson, hence my anxiety....

Not that I'd expect anyone to understand.....and not that I care what anyone thinks....

The following does not reflect well on some model engineers but I could not find ME at one of my local WHS stores so I asked at the counter only to be told that they keep it behind the counter because it was getting stolen when on show! I shall not say which store to save the thief's embarrassment, oh hell let's embarrass him, Ruislip.

My ordered ME has not been delivered to the village shop yet, and WHS in Dorchester dont have any either.

Taking out a subscription shouldn't be necessary with a permenent order.

Brian.

No doubt, but my understanding is that the proportion of subscribers amongst readers of ME and MEW are some of the largest of any UK magazines, so we must be keeping some readers happy.

Consider yourselves lucky. Here in Oz I never ever see ME on the shelves. MEW seems to be stocked by some shops, perhaps becaues of its wider appeal beyond model engineering?

But they are at least a month behind UK dates, which makes my (subscription delivered) MEW seem almost secondhand after reading comments on here about it for weeks before I see the real thing. It's almost like an old friend arriving on the doorstep.

I occasionally see ME in some shops in Christchurch, and one shop only for MEW, mind you I'm only in town about once a month. Ian S C
