Formerly known as the Harrogate show which has now moved to Doncaster race course and a bit later in the month, Friday 20th of May to Sunday 22nd of May.

I will be going the whole of the three days and have a small stand somewhere supplied by the organisers. This will not be marked up as it's a private stand, not sponsored by any company, just myself and the organisers offering a sharpening service on end mills and drills.

End mills will be from 3mm up to 20mm in HSS or Carbide and just the ends only, no flutes. Can be 2 flute, 3 flute or 4 flute.

Drills from 3mm up to 20mm again in HSS or carbide, parallel shank or taper.

Having said this the first 5 Herberts will roll up with 6 flute cutters wanting the flutes done.

Free service but the organisers are supplying a charity box.

Hi John, I'm going on the Saturday, I'll look out for you as I have some 10 - 20mm MT2 drill bits that I'd like sharpening, that's a nice thing you are planning.

What's the charity, do you know?

Regards,

John.

Hello John,

It is nice to hear you will be repeating what you did last year at Harrogate; I shall come and see you, this time with a few cutters, on the Friday.

Best wishes

Brian

Does that mean you're playing the part of Buzz Aldrin for the weekend?

So I'm definately going now. How long will it take you to do about 1/2 cwt of cutters? Seriously, that's a very generous action on your part, I hope you make plenty dosh for your charity

I can do a 3 flute 10mm carbide center, cutting as an example in about 1 minute.

When you get up to 20mm it takes a lot longer as you are having to remove more material.

No different machine, I will be taking two end mill grinder up with me and a drill grinder.

Not done the workshop move yet. Just moved or rather part moved into a 'new' house over the bank holiday but still living at the old one at the moment.

New workshop which will be 20' x 12' which is the biggest I can get in will be later when the house is finished.

It's not like I'm without a workshop as the Lodge is still up and running and will be for some while but it means that I can take some the smaller home shop machines to the new place and play.

There is no chance of doing this when I'm at work and when you live on the premises as i do at present, there is no letup from being disturbed.

Recently printed my advance ticket and it says 'this ticket can be used for entry once on the day of your choce'

I'm sure there were pass outs (maybe a wrist stamp?) at Harrogate in previous years.

Does anyone know if this really is a one time entry ticket?

Martin,

The Harrogate prepaid ticket said exactly the same and indelible stamps were used on your hand as a pass out there---the tickets are issued by the same agency (Tyg tickets) so I can see no good reason why the situation at Doncaster will be any different

Brian

Many thanks Brian, hope that continues to be the case. I need fresh air at lunch rather than one long stretch of four or five hours under artificial light.

Can only second Peter Ravenscroft's Thanks to you John.

Nice to be able to put a face to the name.

Wish that I could have made it the Red Dot in time to meet other Forum users.

(A good idea to have a meeting place)

Next time perhaps?

Howard

Alas the red dot was a bit thin on the ground, but I did meet several forum members today.

I wore my brightest and reddest Jimi Hendrix t-shirt to make me easy to spot - I think I was the most colourful soul in the place!

Saw Neil but he excused himself while John was repairing some dull cutters of mine, first thing blush Many thanks

Fell in love with the CNC Myford making ball ended handles, but too rich for my blood.

No problems parking smiley

Nice change from Ally Pally nerd
