Did anyone ever notice that the old days quality had more elegance along with their names?

Not quite everything Mark!

Though I admit almost all steam engines are drop-dead sexy!

Lucky lad. We couldn't afford a hole. We had to sort it and save the urine to sell to the dye-works to make ends meet..

When I were a lad we were so poor that for central heating dad would suck a polo mint and we would sit round his breath. wink

That loo reminds me of some digs I stayed in once. I was disgusted at the state of the loo & complained & ended up by pointing out that it had no lock on the door.

Land lady said " No problem son. That loo has been there 40 years & we have not had a single bucket of s..t nicked yet"

Even for a forum renowned for "off topic" diversions this must surely beat all records for number of postings to reach complete subject "off-topicness" . Superb work chaps!!!

Thanks for the heads up Eric, date & time noted, now all I have to do is find a way of persuading SWMBO to relinquish the remote for an evening!

Regards Martin.

Sorry for the diversion Eric and Martin, though it was fun.

I will of course be watching the programme thanks to Eric's helpful post.

Ta,

Dave

Thanks for the info Eric, looking forward to that one.

I like Robson Greens style of presenting and his Northumbrian series has been very good.

Similar for me Eric - but just a bucket. It had to be emptied - my dad it, saying he was going to do the s**t bucket samba!

There was a connection to FS - he was born in 1923
