.

Gary,

In theory, I suppose it must ... But the one supplied is very small and light.

The Magnet is 5mm in dia and 3 mm thick, hardley likely to cause imbalance.  smiley

This got my counter to work first time, from a thread a few weeks ago.

If the mass of the magnet really is a problem, make up a dummy in brass or stainless and mount it opposite the real one.

I have used on the these tachos on my Champion 20V mill, and it gives a much steadier reading (ie slower changes) than the original. And surprisingly, they do agree pretty well ...

Regards, Tim

I bought a cheap Chinese rev counter for my milling machine and spent a long time trying to get it to read off the magnet that I had installed. I only got it to work when someone suggested that I had a Hall Effect Sensor that did not require a magnet and would read off the shallow hole that I dad drilled to mount the magnet.
