![]() 19226 forum posts 749 photos 86 articles | Last December's Model Engineer Exhibition at Sandown brought together an exceptionally impressive display of the finest engineering models. Even so, we want to make the exhibition even better in future, so we plan to make some exciting changes for the next exhibition. These include a review of the location and timing of the event, and for practical reasons this means we will have to postpone the next Model Engineer Exhibition to 2016.

419 forum posts 11 photos | A formal announcement will be made in due course. There will not be a Model Engineer Exhibition following the established format at Sandown Park in 2015. There may be an exhibition in 2015 - of which news will be made public at an appropriate time - and we are in the planning stages of an all new MEX 2016 but, at the moment, there is no further announcement to make. Possible ?
Anyone got a decent brush [ and skip ] ??
If not I vote West Midlands. M6 / M5 / M42 That's an area lacking a show. Edited By John Stevenson on 13/03/2015 23:17:02 |

Timing is also relevant. For years we have been told by organisers that a summer show is out as people are away on holiday but I don't see this with the ME fraternity. Most are retired or dead [ or close to it ] and they can take holidays at any time.
Harrogate is beginning of May then Bristol is next in late August, nothing in between. |

The exhibition is put on as a partnership between My Time Media and the SMEE, it would be much worse etiquette to make a public announcement before informing our partners. Neil |

![]() 508 forum posts 98 photos | I agree with John Stevenson regarding location, the midlands show was far better at Donington than where it is now, it's Leamington location is a PITA to get to from most of the country. If the new show is to be located in the midlands it will no doubt be necessary to reassure those living south of Watford that they will not fall of the edge of the world by attending. Cheers Derek. |

340 forum posts 1 photos | Having been to many exhibitions at Leamington, I find it easy to get to from most directions and the amenities such as food and parking are good. I hope any alternative venue is fit for purpose, that is it has not been designed for something else and pressed into service for model engineering purposes. John |

![]() 6956 forum posts 229 photos | Reading? easy trip up from south coast, M4 from Bristol and Wales, only 25 miles from the big population of London, lots of local clubs and near enough to the Sandown site to be familiar trip for a lot of people. Good rail access, including I think a direct run from Leeds and hence all that area. There happens to be a vacant warehouse/office including large canteen and multistorey carpark on the Winnersh Triangle industrial estate which even has its own railway station. Excellent internet access available too. |
