Login now instantaneous.

The Magazines section is not working for me. I provide my email address and new six digit customer number and get the message that it is incorrect. However, the link to classicmagazines.co.uk works fine with the same details.

Hi Graham, you're right, it's not working. Sorry if I wasn't clear earlier - we are working on it now and hopefully it will be up and running in the next few days

No problem, missed that you already knew that.

Hi the web site is not secure again. My Samsung galaxy tablet, Android 7 with Norton 360 security says the site is insecure and blocks access. No padlock on web site address bar.

All working securely for me on 3 different computers and 2 different operating systems.

Most likely explanation is your Galaxy has stored and is still using a copy of the old certificate. MyTimeMedia's certificate for the forum is void, but your Galaxy has a copy it believes to be correct. Thus it detects a security error and refuses to connect. Correct action If the forum had been hijacked or spoofed, but not when the owner of a website changed and has issued a new certificate.

Normally new certificates 'just work', but they can go wrong. Pain in the backside when they do, like losing a bunch of keys. It's possible doing nothing will eventually fix it: operating systems periodically clean up by time expiring old information and refreshing.

Otherwise, on the 11th I posted this:

I mention my date/time problem because it's one of several issues that can cause a client to mismanage a new certificate. Pinched this list off an Android site, but Linux, Apple, and Windows are similar. Suggestions:

  • The operating system is out-of-date. (upgrade if possible: buy new kit if necessary, old hardware doesn't last forever!)
  • The browser is out-of-date. (upgrade)
  • Operating system date/time is wrong. (reset it)
  • Browser has cached information. (Go to Browser settings and clear data and cache.)
  • Anti-virus software is blocking the new certificate. (Temporarily turn it off)
  • The problem may be in the network (shutdown and restart router, or connect to a different WiFi.)
  • One or more of the data structures used to manage the computer is corrupt. (Power the device off, wait at least one minute, and power back on. Doesn't fix all such problems, so if it fails try a factory reset.)

I suggest trying these suggestions in reverse order. The idea is to force the Galaxy to get a new certificate, or to remove whatever in the configuration is blocking it.

Back and secure again. Just checked the conection on here and the padlock is back. It dosn't show what has gone wrong again. Have the web provider changed anything.

When under the old system I clicked on Magazines I could look back since the MEW started or some later date for ME. Now it appears we can only see when we had a subscription. So we appear to have lost what was a great bonus.

Now we have to jump through hoops before even seeing what we have paid for. Something seems to have gone awry.

There does appear to be a big bonus thou. That is you can download a copy as a PDF and save it where you want. That appears to be a better deal than the Pocket Mags app.

Its' worse than that, My MEW subscription began in August 2012, I used to be able to see all MEW in the archive from Issue 1, Now I can only see archive copies from March 2020! My ME subscription began in in 2017, similarly I can only see archive copies from 1st May 2021, although the latter one is shown with a date of 4th April 2020

Gordon

Edited to correct ME subscription start date and some minor edits

Well, I made a real mess of the subscription start dates in my earlier post. My ME subscription began in November 2017 and my MEW subscription began in December 2017.

Sorry everyone, so busy I forgot to say that we are rebuilding the archive - starting at the latest issue working backward - it's a bit of an ongoing process but everything you had before will be there!

Is the Galaxy S2 set to a different level of security?

To be honest, I struggle to manage settings on my Lenovo tablet, which is also Android.

Today, I emailed Mortons to get my customer ID. Their response was rapid and I was subsequently able to log in to the magazines section. The veiwer appears to be a vast improvement on the old one, but the archived magazines only go back to issue 291. I assume this is as far as Mortons have got with the conversion of the back issues.

We will hopefully be able to populate the MEW archive with more issues than in the past.

I don't know if there will be some gaps, but we will do our best.
