I have just been in to "Setting's" via the forum to discover that my subscription Number for MEW had been changed NOT BY ME !!!
I reinstalled the correct number and again have access to the archival for MEW.

I then went on to My Time Media link to check my account etc shocked to findmagazine mew me subscription issue 2.jpg

I think the 'start date' is when your next renewal will start, it clearly shows your subs as current and that you will receive the next issue.

Kate, who people will remember is fantastic at getting this kind of issue sorted out has only just returned from maternity leave. As you can imagine she is snowed under immediately, but has promised to address Ray's issues ASAP and is meeting with the MD to discuss the situation with Pocketmags. We understand that readers' concern is to be able to have ongoing and simple access to their downloaded issues.

Some of us would like to download some issues rather than have to read online all the time, I've never managed it.

Neil I guess you are only assuming re-start date? No worries.

YEH Kate is back sorry Neil a great person like Kate in the background is worth double what they are paid. Hope Kate reads that.

Have already had an email from Kate, what a mess to come back to it could make her see dirty nappies are an enticement not to come to work and much easier to deal with lets hope not!!!!

I pity the MD who I hope Kate is wearing pointy toe heals studded at that so when she kicks ass it hurts and a spike then for pocketmags so it remains in the brain for a long time after.

Neil nothing wrong with 95 to think what we did back then and HDD, memory we dealt with!!!!
I still have Win3 software a 51/4 disc drive and 31/2 disc drive all I need is a machine to install it on. Even old Wordperfect 5, Lotus 123.

Bring back Netscape I say!!!

I still have a laptop with Win97 on also haven't fired it up for years.

Don't laugh as a small time techie I had to rescue a solicitor who's client DB software was Win3.1 Wordperfect 4 Electronic Typewriter based I rescued that in 2003. The software upgrade to access old files was $12kAU on top f the main package $25k.

Not that strange - the only Microsoft OS I need is XP - the contractor that I work for has a web-based form that requires IE8. So, I have an XP ISO, and run it once a week in a virtual instance just to fill in my time sheet.

Other than that, I develop for Linux, Android, and, whatever the client wants. (which, might be a version of Windows - we'll see later this year)

Over the last 2+ decades, the only thing I have HAD to have windows for is for email (behind closed doors) and time sheet stuff.

So there. I'm either helplessly antiquated, or bleeding edge - the client thinks the latter, my wife, the former!

Thanks to an email from Pocketmags this morning which has done nothing but infuriate me even more

"

Hi Ray,

You need to download the magazines again to the new app, as the old app can no longer be supported due to changes in Microsoft and Google's software. You can still access your issues, but not via the old app.

Please try this and let us know how you get on.

All the best,

Will"

So in essence this heading for this thread should read " All Windows ver"

Still no notification yet from Pocketmags officially to announce and give direction of what to do. No i am not that silly they have neglected even on their website until recent changes as pointed out during this thread a Public Announcement.
That lack of professionalism has me considering seriously to demand a full refund or ever taking out a subscription again.

On top of that as Neil will see in his email in box further in the staff of ME/MEW reply.

I also got a reply to my queries from Pocketmags Help yesterday regarding the new app.

1. There is no way to download your mags in a batch, they will have to be downloaded individually.

2. This is more relevent to us. The mags will not sort themselves into date/issue order and are displayed in the order you download them so bear this in mind when you start to download to the new app.

Raymond regarding instructions on what to do I covered that on Sunday, see my post with the 4 photos of what comes up on the screen once the app has been loaded onto a W10 machine. As far as I can see there is no way to read offline on a machine that does not have W8.1 or higher.

Jason it goes to show even more how unprofessional it has become it deepens my total disgust for what others & I i have out laid good money for and from the exchange which they couldn't careless about as long as they have the $$$.

I hope others considering taking out or renewing their subscriptions are reading all these posts and making the choice not to continue. Not just with these magazines all Pocketmags and My Time Media surely ME & MEW are not the only ones effected.???

Makes me wonder how greedy people can get and if the share holders have any idea what is going on how some DH is trying to kill off their shares and the business??

I'm on downloading and setting up the iTunes for PC I use that on my tablet for each stupid eh one for each just more HDD space and memory taken up.

What annoys me even more is lack of security as the sign in and passwords must match all over or it doesn't co-exist talk about security night mare and hackers open front door to everything

I had a look around the other MTM forums and there are no posts of people there having issues and we only seem to have a couple in this post. Maybe there are just not that many people who need to read off line, the fact Pocketmags don't offer an offline reader for Mac suggests it is a seldon used or requested feature, I've never used it except to check when there have been queries on the forum.

Best option in my view is if you do want offline access is to get the print or print+digital subscriptions.

Ray,

It appears that, somehow, rather than a print+digital subscription for each title you have both a digital and a print subscription, so that's four in all.

Your profile had the print subs numbers in it rather than the digital ones. I have edited your profile and you should now be able to see the archive.

A couple in here?? So at what point does it raise concern?? Thats like saying allow terrorists in until they commit an offence of proportions to be concerned about. To read off line you need really to turn the modem OFF not just open a app or software which doesn't use a net browser otherwise it still accesses the online archive.
Not many would switch off the WiFi or data i can assure you.

Jason thats where my trouble started about the 18th of May taking out new subscription for ME DIGITAL ONLY, renewing MEW Digital & print. During the process almost at conclusion of the transaction it crashed. i went through the right channels of HELP. To date almost one month latter I have still not got a human contact in regards to that problem. I went through the whole process a few days latter and subscribed without a hitch.

I guess Neil thats why the four you saw I only used details I was emailed with invoices etc. The internet in the k was hit hard hospitals especially about that time. Who knows where else they were else they tried getting through.

Its taken me a month almost to even start getting replies and now action. To the whole team I do say a big thanks.

Now to get back to why this thread begun which I believe is still to do with some smart ass CEO who disregards the users of old software without any consideration at all.

WE do need a better of line HDD storage of magazines we pay good money for PDF is the best choice.

That's a pretty poor attitude to take in my opinion. Customer care obviously isn't your forte.

Jason is a volunteer moderator not an MTM employee, he is entitled to his personal opinion.

My personal opinion is that Jason has gone way beyond what can be fairly expected of a volunteer in trying to help sort this and he deserves appreciation for it.

Let's not forget, Microsloth have a similar attitude to ALL its customers. Very few go to the trouble of ensuring all access systems work faultlessly, not laziness, just an inability to solve the problem without deflecting it to someone else's court.

As far as a moderators personal opinion, perhaps stating this would clarify rather than being assumed as "company policy".

Regards Ian.

Jason I kept seeing a Mac Pocketmags link while looking has it been removed of late?

Then the MTM Itunes app promoted on the front page of the website which clearly states its for Mac & PC? **LINK**

This is the same app I use on the Andriod phone & tablet BUT the need to download two readers one for Model Engineer & one for MEW is annoying.

Those who give their time freely as Jason does are worth more money but not all some take the power they are given and run wild with it UNLIKE Jason. I am a moderator elsewhere.

Mods personal opinion has caused more fights and arguments and members leaving in droves on forums bit like a new boss sweeping clean to bring in his or her mates.

.

Raymond,

Please have a careful look at the App that you have just linked ^^^

[ It appears to be the one that appears at the top of this site's homepage ]

https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/model-engineer/id584847270?mt=8

  • that App is exclusively for use on iOS devices
  • it also requires iOS 7.0 or later

MichaelG.

.

Edit: here's a screen-grab from Apple's  UK App Store

[which is what your link opens in on my iPad]

Raymond can you download to that for offline viewing or is it just an online reader?

Don't know if a link has been removed or not, are you refering to one on here somewhere?
