What we have going forwards now is probably the new normal

I think that is the most likely scenario. Maybe a combined flu/covid jab might turn out to be the norm, when everything settles down?

At 76 y.o I wish ! but unfortunately that combination would involve two sets of guesswork. With the 'flu virus ( another coronavirus ) the virologists already have to make an educated guess each year as to which mutations the coming winter's 'flu virus vaccine should address, most years their guess is well-targeted, other years not so much so.
To add estimated covid-19 mutations to those guesses would be a step too far, I feel.
All hope of a vaccine for the 'common' cold (you guessed it - another coronavirus ) has long been abandoned due to the rapid mutation character of that virus

Just mitigating the effects of succumbing to the virus.would be a definite positive. So far, the mutations do not appear to have altered the efficacy of the vaccines available, so fingers crossed that we might just need a boost to our immune systems...

I think I have only been severely affected by the flu virus just once in nearly twenty five years I’ve received the jab. Both at the same time would be acceptable as I’ve never yet had any nasty after-effects of the flu jab.

Thinking positive here!

Just finished another relentless week of fighting C-19. My ward has become a full C-19 ward. I handle 28 Covid -19 patients plus another 15 medical outliers. My ward had been full since mid December and the hospital is over flowing. My colleagues in the medical and healthcare profession are all exhausted and we also do get sick from COVID-19. All I can say is we are saving peoples lives as much as we can sadly the hard truth is we cannot save them all despite whatever we do. I don't hesitate to treat my patients and I face the enemy day in and day out and this is our reality. All I wish is this to be over soon as we are all exhausted. Be safe everyone.

Sounds like they need a war type recruitment drive to get through this thing

Once a group of critters reaches a critical mass like in the dairy and poultry industries they have to dose them with antibiotics in their feed and water to reduce mass disease issues wiping out the stock

Nature doesn't like too many critters crammed into a fixed space

It is a sad fact that over too many years honesty and integrity have become alien concepts to all in public service and public life. NHS managers are incapable of telling the truth. Yes from an experienced victim of the NHS Death Camp in Weston Road Stafford 1999 to 2001. Over 1250 deaths there 2004 to 2009. All unecessary and untimely.

Now we have a deputy chief medical officer who tried in the first lockdown to convince us that a certain committee had met and made decisions on February 30th. Think about it. Government advisors whose methods were suspect and unable to keep.their genitals in their trousers breaking the law in the first lockdown now he is back on the scene. Today three differing sets of figures and R values from.the experts. The top guy professor John Bell stating that if it wished the NHS could vaccinate us all in just 5 days. Managers clearly incompetent.

My blood ran cold in March whilst listening to the Chief Nurse deliver a speech I knew I had heard before. No 10.was obsessed at the time with eugenics ( in plain language population cleansing). The speech focussed on euthanasia. On checking the paraphrasing it matched the propaganda used to justify AKTION T4 in 1938. Guess where from.

Up to date I am also (02.10.20) one of the 29% false negatives that the pogrom is turning up and requiring hospitalisation on 06.10.20. Not much publicity given to that. Admission this very day that the vaccination programme will extend beyond 2 years.

If you do the work yourself and build in all the failures of every initiative, the contradictory stats and overlay the vaccination aspirations over those performance curves, using the same modelling techniques the government listens to then it will take 10 years and 4 months to vaccinate us all.

Already in our local community people in band 1 have been told in writing that they cannot expect vaccination earlier than 24th February. The year has not been stated. Where is the mechanism for all those who.will be allowed to fall through the net by inept and incompetent administrators? There is none. There is no appeal, no questions.

Ah well my original NHS number issued July 1948 like so many others as baby boomer is in one of the batches who Beveridge, Henry Willink and Bevan knew the NHS would eventually have to leave to die.

How many MPs an civil servants have declared share ownership in barbed and razor wire manufacturers and crematoria builders?

Back to the shed.

Staggering that anyone with the intelligence to use a lathe (presumably) would believe even half this cobblers.

No.10 Downing indulging in eugenics? The Chief Nurse copying a Nazi speech? 10 years to vaccinate the nation?

Posting this kind of fantasist misinformation is doing your country a great disservice and helps no-one in the current time of crisis. Stay in your shed.

No.10 Downing indulging in eugenics?

It's not really eugenics, it's the herd immunity approach, like we did in the Spanish flu of the 20s and the asian flu of the 50s

Everybody gets it, 5%+ don't make it, the rest of us carry on as usual

Boris was all for it back in march, then did a superfast u-turn

(The rest of it I have no idea about)

Sad that people only listen to sound bytes. Cummings actually recruited Andrew Sabinsky to be a senior No 10 advisor. An extreme believer in Eugenics as Cummings was also an advocate and affionado. Sabinsky is so extreme he had to resign Feb 2020. There is no doubt what eugenics actually is.

Ferguson could not manage without bedding his mistress breaking the lockdown laws.

Van Tam's statement in a number 10 press conference. Ruth May's answer to a journalist in a broadcast press conference. The question directly about who would be left to die.  I.E euthanasia.

Herd immunity was a vain hope with tens of thousands of deaths being vaunted by Whitty and Vallence when the wider scie tific community stated that herd immunity may never occur.

As regards Stafford. Just how short is memory? A scandal of epic proportions with major repurcussions in the Commons. The failure to act upon and implement the findings of Exercise Cygnus of October 2016 the results of which were so terrifying , I quote, that they could not be made public. And still are kept secret. We are now seeing that worst case being acted out every day with more to come.

John Bell knows nothing does he?

Front line staff in the NHS are lions led by donkeys and thats an insult to donkeys.

Stay in your shed.

The best advice. Should have added ‘and leave any internet connection in the house’.

It will soon be time for a thread-lock, if this type of poster continues.

Ian b , you could well be right, ! One thing is certain the Govt figures for Covid are being manipulated; The care homes are not allowed to record deaths from Covid... My Mother’s home, about 1/4 died from the first wave...they are not able to record the true loss officially at the home the Manager told me... therefore The true death rate is much higher. The Nhs Senior spun doctors are happy resort to False information; speaking from personal experience. They also have a Professor who is head of “Complaints “ ! I was pleased when she was unable to give a answer on a serious point. Not often you find that on their own subject.

You would have to look at the past; and compare the figures ...

What I find really shocking is how Ppe equipment ( newly formed) companies have close relations to Ministers... ie Neighbours ( Hancock as reported in The Press) or friends even ( Cabinet Minister)... such indirect profiteering is shocking.... it was also of a obvious low quality design. They are happy to expose those on the Front line Nursing staff with inadequate ppe.

That says it all...

keep safe

Thank you Vic. I don't need an internet connection thank you. I can watch and comprehend live from No 10 on the television.

I have never made any claim to knowing everything.

But I do have memory and will check and verify from the sources. There are a number of formal Freedom of Information requests lodged for the full findings of Exercise Cygnus which would give us all a much better understanding of what is really going on. There is at least one major legal case before the courts, Dr Qureshi (I hope spelt correctly) represented by Leigh Day lawyers. DHSC are using every method to delay access to that information. What has been leaked so far is as quoted terrifying. And we are actually seeing it being played out.

I have been in business in the model and model engineering field and gladly will go back to my shed. I know of other authors, mag contributors and ex suppliers who are pretty disgusted with the whole scene of ME as it has become.

Glad to be gone from where verifiable facts are denied because they dont quite suit.

I think that might be true of at least the NHS procurement department who let down the front line staff with poor supplies of PPE - I think they were totally incompetent and, somehow managed to blame the government for it all.

JA

Thank you JA, being in the front line since all of this started about a year ago and witnessing the impact to our lives greatly saddened me. We all have to sacrifice and adopt to the situations. I witness it all. I know there are so many opinions, suggestions and recommendations but the truth is there are also so many unknowns. We are learning as we go along. What is difficult at times is trying to understand everything which in my opinion is going to be difficult to know all the answers to our questions. It might be very easy to be judgemental and say what we think is the right things to do but we are not in that position including myself. Im sure that if we are in their shoe (our leaders) we will also be doing what is best but then again we will be heavily criticised of our actions and mistakes. Its our human nature to blame others and think our opinion and expertise is right but I personally think that it is more dynamic than that. We are influence by our emotions and that's how we are as human beings. What I can say is Im doing my best and contributing to the fight for Covid-19. I will keep doing my part as this is what I know best. I will leave politics aside and help all the patient that needs me. I have to think of the people from other countries that have no healthcare system such as the NHS, surely they have all the right to live also but the interplay of society let them down but its not my role to judge. I am hoping that we all have to be positive and help ourselves and our society but I understand how our human nature affects us all. Only time can tell and this event is going to be our children's children and future generation to reflect upon and learn from it as we all do in our history.

Hear hear. I'll second that, Michael Gilligan. (Except the modified heart bit. Mine is still the original black.)

Keep up the good work Raphael and we do appreciate all that you and your cohort do, behind the clouds of bulldust that inevitably surround such momentous happenings. It's people like you that make it all work, regardless of the politics.

Hmm ? yes, I wonder why that would be? Wouldn't be because some on here seem more intent on venting their spleen would it - never, surely? can't be. Must just be a lack of interest generally.

Raphael's comments says it all - I don't care whether government statistics or announcements from the relevant scientists are false - what on earth would that actually achieve if so. I don't doubt there is some spin on it but, and it's a bloody big BUT, people are dying of this virus at an ever increasing rate and people like Raphael are dealing with it daily against appalling odds whilst others can only see it as justification to have a rant.

As Michael says, Raphael, my heart is with you too and all of your colleagues that face this virus and potential exhaustion in dealing with it on a daily basis.

All I can say is to those who feel it necessary, if ire and angst floats your boat and personal diatribe is all you can offer then you ought to consider whether you are actually in the right place.

I have to say I feel affronted by some of the comment made on here in face of this threat that affects us all.

Only this morning I have been on the Barton Control line Forum to find a well known and highly thought of personality within the hobby has succumbed to Covid's dreadful reputation.

When I posted my pic of Boris I did so with a light heart - somehow, I don't feel quite the same today.

Yes. I think the govt stats could be out by 50 per cent in any given direction and this thing would still be a calamity when viewed objectively from the hospital wards.
