If you tweak the social density numbers for the UK and exclude the backwater of Scotland it goes up to 380 people per km

Japan is 335

Now take out Northern Ireland and we get... drumroll

404 folk per sq km

People are packed like fish in a barrel in Engerland, India is 420 ppkm2

I have started going out riding the Motorcycle again. Taking care wherever i stop to keep distance. The cafe's have all been very good at making this possible. It is the people. Honestly wherever i have been, people don't seem to take it seriously. Handshakes, cuddles, sitting in large groups.

So yes it is that quite a few people are stupid.

Not all motorcyclists. Scarborough was packed last week & no more than a handfull of people had masks on. Strangely there was quite a large Asian family walking down the prom & all had masks on. They had a small one on the baby too.

There seems to be a \( Its ok , i won't catch it.) attitude.

Steve.

For anyone open to another view. This is what front line doctors think:

I can't see why people prefer the opinion of politicians over medical professionals.

I see from the pictures that the teams aren't distanced either

Bwahaha. That's the same doctor who says modern medicines contain alien DNA. A real reliable source for sure.

The crowd issue is a simple one.

When covid was just a dose of flu the 20 to 30 something age group were told they would hardly be affected. A year earlier they were told they had to work till 70 to support the current crop of retired old scroungers.

Put the two together and they see it as a win win. The English Covid resurgence has been recognised as being driven by this age group.

Grow up !!!!!!!

May I suggest that you think a little deeper about what Dave wrote [ignoring your own emboldenment of five words]?

It may, for effect, have been written as if there was actual malicious intent ... but the underlying psychology is credible.

Do you seriously believe that anyone aged 20 to 30 thinks for an instant that they will ever be even close to 70 years old?

My point was that thinking doesn’t come into it ... we are witnessing the subconscious at work.

At 30 you're indestructible, I know I was until I fell off a cliff

USA is a good indicator IMO

900k births 150k deaths in 4 months =15%

Not worried at all

My previous generations had WW1 and 2 to deal with, the Spanish flu and whatever else

Every generation or two gets tested by the gods and the last 50 years have been a doddle compared to the previous 2000 years

The elbow bump is reasonably safe if a contact greeting is required, the best thing about this virus is that it keeps the huggers and kissers away, alright for the continentals but a handshake is fine in Britain.

You think censoring doctors with real-world experience is the right thing to do?

This thread is more frightening than any virus - the complete lack of ability for anyone to be inquisitive about what's happening is appauling. You'll be wearing wellies to the shops if you're told to, won't you?

The woman doctor speaking in that video is Stella Emmanuel from Houston. Trump retweeted her video and it got taken down. She touts hydroxychloroquine as a cure, discounts masks in spite of the current evidence to the contrary, and as MickB1 says has some crazy notions about aliens and dna. She is part of a group of doctors known to be part of a very right wing group which backs Trump. In short, the whole video is a few credible but unproven claims backed up by unscientific and sometimes plainly wrong assertions, all of which have been comprehensively debunked by a number of more credible people.

yes, we should be open minded and look at all the possible means of transmission and infection, as well as all possible means of treatment and prevention. But we don’t have to be so open minded that our brains fall out. And is wearing a mask really that difficult? Even I can manage that.

Real world experience of alien DNA?

Which doctor? Evidence please, or you're making it up.

If you subscribe to the theory of comets and meteors delivering proteins then we're all alien....

As to C-19 there is no plan to eradicate it. It's a holding game pending a vaccine with indisputable damage to the economy meanwhile. PlanB is herd immunity...60-80% The easiest way is to let the younger survivable 80% catch it and ring fence the older folk until they croak (mostly from inadequate health care under current access) from old age..

There's no shortage of N95 masks online now if you want to protect yourself better when shopping (assuming budget allows) Lesser face coverings don't protect you.. they help protect others only.

I didn't really think it's the the right thing to do to censor doctors, but that doesn't mean I necessarily believe uncritically what they say either. The thing has been going long enough now for huge propaganda machines to get going on all sides. The whole media circus seems like Robot Wars between such machines these days, and as pointlessly damaging.

You can only suit your own behaviour to avoid risk of contagion as far as you practically can. Very unfortunately there are very many people whose circumstances restrict their opportunity to do so without severe loss of quality of life.

Moving things on a bit - has anyone else noticed they have had fewer minor coughs and colds during the last 6 months, allowing for it being summer? I have and wonder how much is through not being at work where 50% of people have children and others have extended famly contacts, extensive international travel and other sources of trivial infections. My last 3 day cold was two weeks before lockdown as a result of a business trip staying at an airport hotel in Manchester.

My first winter cough/cold usually arrives two days after attending my local surgery's flu vaccination morning.
