122 forum posts | Unfortunately its down to theindividuals they employ or exploit (allegegly) . My wife's xmas present never arrived I still get emails from them saying they are trying to sort the problem. It was replaced by JL in the end. I live in a rural area and it turns out the delivery driver did not want to get her car muddy so said she could not find the house. I have two recent deliveries that were OK but on Friday my wife found a jiffy bag stuffed in the hedge at our paddock gate, it was for one of my neighbours who lives down a different track. I do get annoyed when a suppliers quotes Royal Mail prices then uses Hermes All others courriers have been great at least you can contact them. |

940 forum posts 30 photos | I ordered some bits from CPC at about 1330 yesterday, they were delivered at 1101 this morning and were easy to track on the UPS site. That's what I call service especially as it was standard delivery at no charge. The best was from a company, I can't remember the name, who when you logged onto the tracking site actually showed where the delivery van was and gave an estimated delivery time. |

That's DPD... Many times they even give you the name of the driver who is going to deliver to you. DPD set this standard a while back. Other couriers such as UPS and Parcel Force are starting to catch up...when they call us to sell us their service, they say...'now even we can give DPD type of notification service'... But they still have some way to go to catch up... in my opinion. DPD costs us more then the others... But for us it is better as less consoignments go walkabout, and the cost of chasing such events is costly. Ketan at Arc. |

That may well be the case for you, but over the previous couple of weeks, UPS have (apparently) lost a parcel addressed to my wife, then delivered a replacement three days later than promised. Carp service, if you were to ask me!
Many parcels arrive within, or around, 24 hours. Mostly via Royal Mail, but not exclusively - but when delivery is delayed, non existent or improper (items left laying around) the system falls into disrepute. The sooner the contract between supplier/courrier/recipient is enforced with enforced contract default compensation, the sooner the laggards will either catch up or go out of business.

![]() 1688 forum posts 16 photos | Ordered some items from Holland & Barrett, they were despatched with Hermes, received an email from Hermes confirming that they had been delivered - but they hadn't been delivered to my address.. Later that day received a telephone call from a lady in a neighbouring street that she had our parcel which had been left at her address, same number house - wrong street. Holland & Barrett were very good over the issue but I would never choose Hermes to deliver anything, they give the appearance that they couldn't care what happens. Only ever had positive experiences with DPD, their local driver very friendly and efficient, they give an email with one hour delivery slot, always arrive within 10 minutes of the beginning of the time slot, first class service. |

![]() 943 forum posts 10 photos | I have had a delivery van driver (can't remember the company), phone me up & say they have tried to find me without luck, can I give directions? This from a van parked across our garage door, 15ft from the front door. Our village has about 50 houses, one street and no numbers, only names for the houses. Must be a nightmare. Originally our house had its name on a plaque at first floor level, where the drivers never saw it. Now we have it painted in 4" high gold lettering on the fanlight above the front door as well, where they also never see it. Regards, Richard.

7227 forum posts 21 photos | After being made redundant; for six months I worked as a parcels courier for Interlink (A franchise operation). Obviously, companies will vary, (as will each Depot and courier) in their efficiency and conscientiousness. Lack of care could result in damage to a consignment, at any stage of the process. Everyday was a stressful 13 hour one, very often needing to be somewhere else 5 minutes ago, for a desperately urgent collection. Sometimes, the address was anything but clear, or obviously marked. If a parcel was delivered a day late, it was only because an error by one of the couriers. Every item was scanned onto the vehicle, and off, with a handheld scanner, (PLUS a receipt signature) the results being downloaded at days end to confirm delivery. Some deliveries were "timed", and theoretically had to be delivered by 0900. Try that when you have three, for destinations in places each some 15 -20 miles form the others! But barring the odd acceident, everything got there the same day as it arrived at the depot. The worst problem was folk who did not know the difference between Bourn in Cambridgeshire and Bourne in Lincolnshire, and then complained of delivery a day late! Howard |

7517 forum posts 20 photos | Conclusion to UPS saga.
Both parcels arrived today, but not until some complaining.
I rang the local agent and enquired what had happened to my parcel which was 'out for deivery' yesterday. They were good enough to ring me back, telling me they had it and supplying the tracking number.
After a chat room conversation with a helpful lady, I was given a link which actually had a phone number! I was then told they could deliver it on the 4th of next month! At which point I gave them a 'blast', informing them that we were in residence all day yesterday, that the door bell was working, that no note was left to say they had tried to deliver, that the dog would have barked at anyone at the door. In short, if the delivery vehicle had a tracking device they could very likely be able to see that the vehicle never even came near our road! That unless I had rung the agent, I would have not known it was there for collection!
Lady would look into it and said they would ring back within the hour. In only a short time a phone call was received to say that it would be delivered today, and it was.
Simply not good enough service. Someone clearly needs taking to task! Shoddy service and no redress!

In regards to courier choice Caveat Emptor ! |

![]() 98 forum posts 56 photos | Normally I have not had any issues with delivery, but recently due a death in the family I had not been home to accept deliveries. UPS and one other courier which I cannot remember will after 2 missed deliveries will leave your package at convenience store near location. This I find brilliant, as normally courier depots are miles from your home. I understand that Amazon are tying up with Morrisons to do a similar thing.
