Chester let me down Again
Adrian Parker 1 | 05/06/2016 19:53:31 |
19 forum posts | Some years ago I ordered a large lathe from Warco. The delivery driver turned up when he was supposed to, uncovered the side of the vehicle and expected me to bring up my fork lift truck! Luckily I managed to borrow a pump up trolley from a local supermarket and get the lathe onto the tailgate lift and into my garage. Such is life! The truth is that delivery is fraught usually because suppliers like to keep costs relatively low and would not dream of asking us pay extra for a decent guaranteed delivery. Adrian

My point is that it isn't an easy object to arrange an evening delivery for. Neil That's ignoring the fact that they've let him down for two full days already, anyone with an ounce of customer service/ goodwill would work to get it done. Courier delivery details I've seen usually state 8am-8pm delivery times
Which is why I said wait and see how they propose to sort out the issue. Neil |

18 forum posts | First things first, I would like to offer a massive apology to Michael for this huge let down on TWO separate occassions by ourselves. This is not how we like to do business and the unfortunate circumstances around this would sound like feable excuses so I will not go into to much detail, except to say the problem was down to a faulty side lifting fork lift in our warehouse used to get the machines, and not the fault of any delivery company. As soon as we where aware there would be an issue we did, as Michael has said, contact to advise. Unfortunately the Saturday this was slightly out of my control, again I'm not making excuses as we are the ones at the end of the day who have taken the money, but some times these things do happen. It is more unfortunate that one person has suffered twice for the same machine delivery. I look forward to speaking directly with Michael to get this resolved to his satisfaction. Kind regards, Tony

1585 forum posts 1 photos | Have phoned my Cr Card issuer who confirm that Camdenmin have issued full credit to cancel their charge a month ago for non-existant DVD. Prob. now resolved. Maybe they realised that I meant business when I emailed them to say I had phoned card issuer who told me to call them back if no response from Camdenmin. I will keep to my word and only use their website as a catalogue and only buy for cash @ shows in future. Still annoyed to have received( while this problem was on-going) 2 email adverts for Sales which include missing DVD as a clearance item! "Fed up", Brighton |

7227 forum posts 21 photos | Michael, Working as Engineers, (even if that is that is/was not your profession) we tend to think and act logically. (Machines give us no option, most of the time) That is not necessarily true in the worlds of commerce or politics. Nor is, very sadly, common sense very common anymore. Possibly that explains why, sometimes, the Economy size is too costly to justify buying it! Howard |

![]() 145 forum posts 41 photos | I am so angry!!!!!! At the Doncaster show I purchased a Chester Super Lux Mill and was told it would be delivered Friday 3rd June. On Thursday 2nd June I received a phone call to say that they could not deliver the machine on Friday due to the guy who fits the DRO's being off ill. They said they would rearrange delivery of the machine for today, Wednesday 8th June. It was supposed to be delivered a.m. After no delivery I called them to be told a similar story and that they will now deliver the machine this coming Friday. Why did they not call me to inform me the machine would not be delivered due to ongoing problems???? Not good customer service!! To make it more frustrating, I moved a load of equipment out of my workshop and into the garden at 8.00am so that I could get the machine into position in my workshop. Now I have to move it all back and repeat the procedure again on Friday. Alan. |

51 forum posts | No such problems with Warco. ordered a WM 240 lathe last Friday, got it delivered today, Wednesday, by a great driver who had it in his pallet trolley and put it into my garage just perfect. no issues. Just got to move a few things to get it onto my bench, 13 amp socket, tool peg board, drawers for taps, all just in the way by 2 inches, the lathe drip tray has a drain pipe which it did not know about so I will have to drill a hole in the bench for tit. 795 forum posts 34 photos | It so often depends on who you talk to in some companies. I had some minor issues with a Chester lathe for which I could not obtain a remedy until I spoke to Tony, when the matter was resolved in 24 hours. It is obvious that some employees just don't realise the damage that they do to their company and possibly their job by a lackadaisical attitude. Mick |

This sort of thing is not only inconvenient, but also costly. Two days, one with effectively a loss of pay (or a waste of holiday entitlement), means the real cost of the item may be far greater than buying from a more reliable supplier.
I would hope this considerable loss in income was taken into account when the transaction was finally completed.

It would be impossible for any business to operate it they had to compensate people in such a way every time a delivery was delayed for whatever reason. Neil |

7517 forum posts 20 photos | The PPI scandal eventually caught up w ith the companies selling a product which was not delivered as sold. No real difference here.
I've just had a minor hiccup with a distance (remote) seller on epay. Non- arrival of item. They immediately sent out a replacement by royal mail 48 at their cost.
Now, I don't know whether them telling me it was despatched was a porkie, or whether royal mail has lost another item, but they clearly would have made less profit on a £6.62 transaction, compared to 2nd class postage.
There may be a few reading this thread who will seriously consider whether buying at a few quid less is worth the risk of a costly non-delivery saga. If you are prepared to take that risk, you don't complain. I can understand your sympathy towards the seller, as they are a prominent advertiser on the rhs of these forum pages (and elsewhere).

That's nothing. When you buy a railway ticket there's no guarantee of a seat, or even that the train will run at all! I empathise with your frustration though. Who hasn't wasted a day or two waiting for a delivery that failed to turn up? All I can say is that it was much worse when it was hard for me to take time off work. Now I'm retired and master of my day stuff usually gets to me on time. Tracking can be fun. Last year I watched an urgently needed part progress from order to despatch into a surprisingly complicated delivery chain. I got really excited when it got to my local depot but then it all went wrong. I watched the package all the way back through the delivery chain until it got to a returns depot in Scotland! Before I had time to complain the following morning the part arrived. My guess is that I'd been sent a replacement as soon as the delivery system had reported a problem. Possibly the first package had been damaged in transit. Dave Edited By SillyOldDuffer on 17/06/2016 13:26:28 |
