Yes - I am somewhere on the Welsh border. The house jolted sideways, just once. I was surprised that neither of my two pendulum clocks were affected.

My son in Bristol didn't notice but some of his friends did, can't have been too significant in Bristol.

Sorry about that, might have something to do with the catering size tin of beans I had last night.........

Someone somewhere is cursing about a band of poor finish in the middle of a long cut...

My daughter is down to spend a placement year in Japan in 2019-20, I told her it was good practice.

I'm in Cardiff, but didn't notice anything. My son in law, elsewhere in Cardiff, did, so the effects seem to be a bit localised.

I was camping near the epicentre of the Towyn earthquake in about 83/84.

I thought a big train went past the campsite during night, but was confounded to discover the track was a about 1/4 of a mile away. I send some time looking over the fence and scratching my head in the morning, only when i heard the news did I put 2 & 2 together.

Funny to see an entire page on the BBC News website devoted to the earthquake - but no actual indication of WHEN it happened??? If you look closely at one of the graphics you can deduce that it must have been about 2:30 this afternoon.

Neil, I had a similar experience, I think in 1991. In student accommodation at Aberystwyth Uni, I felt what I thought was a large lorry pass by - I was in a corner room on the top floor. I realised there was no road running by the hall, and wondered what it was. The news that evening reported the earthquake. The student in the next room felt nothing. I think it was the quake at Bishop's Castle that year.

My brother, in Cardiff, said it was quite noticable; the settee and walls shock. His son, in Bristol, was on a Skype call back to Cardiff and he felt it a short time later.

I didn't feel a thing and it seems to have been 15 miles away but I was in shed.

I certainly felt it, the epicentre was reckoned to be about 20km NNE of Swansea so must have been about 6 or 7 km from my home. The event lasted up to a few seconds and at first I thought it was a nearby quarry blasting but this was much worse. There is also a main road at the front of the house and I checked to see if a large truck had demolished the boundary wall. A friend phoned and told me it was a quake.

With all the rain we have been having the ground is waterlogged, this is S.Wales after all, so. the effect was made worse.

Hi Chris,

My son who lives in Sketty was really frightened by it, his house really shook but as I said I didn't feel anything and I live on the Gower a few miles west. Yes, we have had our fair share of rain.

I felt it at t'other end of Wales, Flintshire. It was strong enough to cause a cupboard supporting a printer to wobble a bit. The ground around here used to be the flood plain for the River Dee until it got straightened back about 1750, so very much a mixture of clay, mud and sand and very prone to getting water-logged - which it is.

I didn't notice the earthquake either, but I am in Nelson, New Zealand at the moment.( No earthquakes here in the last seven days). We passed through Kaikoura on our journey from Christchurch to Nelson. Kaikoura had a 7.8 in 2016. Yes, there are many buildings still standing, and the people of New Zealand are rebuilding both Christchurch and Kaikoura!
