Thread: Magnetic chuck
10/11/2011 06:03:12
Hi everyone,
Eclipse Permanent Magnetic Chuck 10" x 5" Type AX105 serial No. 5885. Is there anyone who knows how to dismantle one of these. The one I have got has a jammed on/off handel ' jammed on.' and very little magnet It seems to be in three pices, have undone 8 screws and removed 5 dowell pins but it will not come apart !! I have e-mailed Eclipse but say they have no info or help on this 'old model'. I can get it remagnetized but, I have to get in it to fix the handel. Regards Fred.

Hi David
Thanks for your reply on the 17/01, I checked with the credit card company when this came up and they knew nothing about it and said it had gone through. It shows you need to keep a close watch on credit cards ect. Anyway now I can get archive through my MEW subs every thing is right, getting archive via MEW subs is the best move ever
Regards Fred.

MEW archive, David. No complaints, hah, I've been complaining since I first subscibed, must be  nearly a year now .
Got one early response but that never worked, never heared again, could never get passed copies of the  MEW issues that I had received by post. I gave up after 6months or so. Will not waste my pennies again.      Fred.
Thread: Which issues of MEW are available in digital archive?

Brian in Oz.
You done better than I did, I paid my subs paper and digital, and could never get back issues apart from the MEW paper versions I had already received. Like Mongo e-mails with no results, so I kissed my digital subs goodbye,  MEW's do not ask me to renew and waste good Aussie dollars. Fred.
Thread: Tears as last Harrier jets leave Ark Royal

Thanks Ady for your thread. It's a sorry thing to hear of the end of the Harriers,  Done my apprentiship at Hawkers at Kingstone and then at the Richmond rd. factory 1954-1961. in the 1960-61 time I worked with the experimental section on a Ward 7 combination turret lathe, making parts for the P1127. After sailing to Australia I followed the life of the Harriers the best I could.
I like your political comments it is much the same here  "bloody conservatives".

HI Robert.  I have sympathy with you mate, I had similar experience with my MEW magazine subs. But it seems to be ok now, thanks to some work by [email protected]    try Heather it might surprise you.  As far as the Digital Back Issues, goes, I paid my money and got a confirmation letter back by e-mail  23/04/10 which said that a subscription number (different to the MEW paper version) would be mailed to me, I am still waiting.  But looking at the quality of the digital and the time it takes to get the page you want, I think I wasted my money.
Or is it all only a Miller Problem?       Fred Miller Australia.

Thanks John for your comments, I am glad to see there are others with these problems,
Reading the forum post from GORAK, ' to which I mostly agree' it seems that this computer wizardry is not doing anyone any good.

Sid, reading your post re "Extra" to "Go to digital archive" I've tried that and still only get 146-164, issues. I made my Archive subscription 07/04/10 and got conformation. Do you know if the subs. number is the same as your paper subs. number ? I never received any thing different . Fred.

Hi everybody with a MEW Digital Archive gripes. Is that true it only goes to 146 ? I thought it was just one of the many problems I always get on MEW website. I payed me money but can only get to 146 onward and I've got all them on paper issues. When I have a look at the ones you can get, it takes for ever to get a page first its a plain white and you wait ages for it to come up if I wanted to see the whole issue it would take hours.  The whole website is like this some times it takes 4-5 minutes just to get started, and trying to go from item to another some times is impossiable. Even this letter is a second attempt , yesterday I hit  "Add Posting"  the 'indicator' went around and around and in the end  the the computer window came up "Window Explorer cannot read this website" I do not have these problems with other advertised websites (Chronos, ArcEuroTrading ect ect,). I know Australia is a longway from Orpington and my computer is a bit old but there must be somene out there who can find an answer to these problems.  FRED.

Thread: more subscription renewal
03/03/2010 06:00:13
Hi, Wilson. and David

I have been having trouble with my subscription to MEW since I renewed in Dec. on Dec 16 /09 I got a letter to say ' the renewal payment has been received and processed ' Then on Dec. 18/09 another letter saying  'it has not been payed' both of these letters had no Heading to say where they came from and were not signed, and I did not receive them untill 6/01/2010. Since then I have sent E-mails to the Subscription Dept. 7/01/2010. 3.50am and again 25/01/2010 3.50pm.and to David 09/02/2010 and just have not had any reply ?    Issue 160 came but it dose not look like I will be getting 161.
All I need, is to know is do I re subscribe, Or is the original application going to be processed.       Fred Miller.

Mark. If you are having trouble getting things true, use soft jaws lock in and bore to suit.
Or if your jaws are hard  lock them in and using a Dremal or the like grind the grip face true. See MEW no. 145 - 146 for using soft jaws.    Fred.

Thread: New MEW Digital archive - access?
08/01/2010 05:39:27
Hi. Sid.   I had the same problem with my 2nd year Standard MEW subscription!             E-mailed it in 06/12/09, got a e-mail to confirm, same day.  On the 06/01/10 got a snail mail which took 19 days to get here by air-mail. It also said that my credit card payment was returned unpaid, and to reply within 5days which is hard to do when its in the air !!
I checked with the card company and they had no idea why ? Subs. also said they did not have my e-mail address but they had sent the e-mail 06/12/09 and I have e-mailed them several times in regard to not being able to get into " back issues " on this web. (See thread  28/12/09). I see your in Canada, and I'm in Australia, maybe us O/S
are to difficult to process.     Fred Miller on 08/01/2010.

standard back issue section, Even with several e-mails and attempts through the subs

department !!   I hate to think what would happen if I tried the Digital, I think I will hold on

to my money for that one.       Aussie  Fred.
Thread: Overseas Deliveries
04/11/2009 12:20:15
Hi Russell, I am getting a bit frustrated with my UK internetting, so in my last post I left out the good bits, I subscribe to the MEW. which is a Top magazine. The delivery to my address has been good and getting better in January till about May i was getting delivery about the 25th of the month then May onward about the 14th and this month Nov. it has arrived on the 4th, thats pretty good I reckon. Regard to the " subs only pages" I have been in contact with the subs. dept. several times through e.mails and have done every thing they have  said and still no luck. I have the same sort of problem with one of the engineering suppliers that advertise in the MEW. I cannot login to their order dept. but the rest of the web site is OK. Several e-mails have  past between us but no luck with that as well. There is other suppliers I have dealt with no trouble at all.
I am in Central Vic. on belrick@harboursat .com.au      Regards Fred.

Thread: Stent Tool Grinder
29/09/2009 07:37:31

Thanks Meyrick for your reply, I had a look at Blackgates, their website 'seems to me'  not to be very user friendly. I'll keep looking.    ME  Dec 91 - June 92 , if I could  get through on that  "subscribers only '  section,  (they do not seem to allow us OS subscribers that privilege )  or any one with those copies for sale I might try that way.
There has been no comments on Quorn V 's  Stent but you never no.      Fred
17/09/2009 02:42:56
Is there anyone with construction information on the Stent , and where can you get a 'kit' or  manufacturing drawings, I've seen the articles in MEW on attachments but nothing on the "How To" from the base begining. Also what   dose everybody think about the comparson with a Quorn Tool Grinder.
Fred,       Australia.
