Thread: Micro-Weld carbon torch 1A
01/07/2018 12:52:33

img_0369.jpgimg_0371.jpgimg_0370.jpgHello All,

I picked up this unit at a boot sale this morning, was going to use the case to house the electronics and motor for power feed on my milling machine.

But looking inside I think it might be useable as a spot welder for lithium battery connections, or for resistance soldering.

The AC output voltage can be varied from 1V to 6V.

Would like to know what the originalimg_0374.jpg torch/hand piece used with it would consist of.

Can't find any info on it having searched the web.

Thank you all for the replies, I have measured the angle of the lathe bed way and unfortunately it's 85 degrees not 90

So I am going to go the sawing and filing route, was hoping to use an end mill and create the V in the stop.

JohnF, I have sent a message with my email address, thank you for the reply and the offer of the drawings.

I have an Emco V10P lathe, and need to make a carriage stop for it, but the bed ways are rather an awkward shape, I have included photo's and a tracing taken from the tailstock end of the bed in my albums.

I do not possess a tilting vice or a sine bar, can anyone suggest a way of making an accurate stop for the carriage please.

I do own a milling machine.

Thread: Diesel engines for miniature gauge locomotives?

Neil, I think the car you are talking about was an Aixiam, a car dealer I carried out work for was an agent for them, I did quite a lot of electrical work on them, they could driven on a motorcycle licence.

They used a single cylinder Kubota engine, which as you say was bullet proof.

The problems really got bad when they introduced a battery powered van.

Thread: using an inverter to power a 3ph hoist
04/12/2017 14:04:18

Hi it is important with inverters that the connections between the inverter and the motor are direct, so you would have to use the low level controls on the inverter for up and down control.

Hi,

I recently purchased the Parweld XTS 142 from eBay item No 262719324591 Cost including postage was £158, this also included a Parweld auto dimming helmet and a pair of leather gloves.

Have not used it much but worked really well, and also will work as a scratch start TIG with the addition of a suitable torch.

Thread: Can an electric power steering pump drive a hydraulic ram
11/06/2017 18:08:11

Hi, have you looked at the 12V electric hydraulic pumps used on Transit tipper trucks they usually have a reservoir, and a pressure release valve to let the fluid back into the reservoir.

Hi Robbo,

Yes, Thank you that is the info I have, plus a sales leaflet describing the two models offered, one motorised and one without motor, having a V pulley fitted, instead of the flat pulley.

Michael, I think the original belt was slightly elastic, I manage to find an automotive ribbed belt, which I turned inside out, and this has been working OK.

Hi Russ,

Motor RPM is 1425, large driven pulley is 149.05 mm and motor pulley is 20 mm in diameter.

I have some instructions in PDF I will try and send them via private message.

Sorry Russ can't see a way of attaching pdf files to PM

Will try and create an album with them

Sorry that failed, is it ok to include them in this posting, perhaps mods could advise.
