![]() 33 forum posts 5 photos | Hi all, I am looking for a model engineer who would like a new challenge to make something different. I am a Solidworks mechanical designer, I have designed a model engine in my digital shed which I think will work ! This is a horizontal mill engine, petrol or spirit for fuel, pre-charged air inlet. I would love to make it myself, but I live in a small flat and don't have any machinery of my own, not even an electric drill ! Need small lathe, four-jaw chuck, small milling machine, and maybe a rotary table. The builder will keep and own the model 100%. I only wish to record a video of the finished model running ... hopefully ! I will be happy to contribute 50% of the material costs. Materials are Aluminium and Brass, small amount of stainless bar, Oilite bushes. Have made an animation of the model and put it on to You-tube, so people can see how it works. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDhhLBSTcs8 Some details of the little engine are written below the video. High quality drawings for every part will be supplied on A3 size paper. I am in Andover, Hampshire, someone living within reasonable travelling distance would be convenient, I don't have a car. Dave

110 forum posts 3 photos | I can't help with the building, but I must say that is a fantastic animation - I don't have the first clue on where to start should I want to do one of those (apart from getting a copy of Solidworks, which seem almost impossible for an amateur anyway?) |

![]() 214 forum posts 24 photos | I love the animation. Bit baffled though about the 'challenge to make something different' Except for the pre charged air, which I doubt is necessary on a low revving engine,it has all been done years ago. Or am I missing the point ? Would love to see one running though. |

" Challenge to make something different " = It is not a steam engine ! Ha Ha. The pre-charged air system here allows the engine to fire on EVERY stroke. Dave

No ! I was most disappointed that no one was interested in making the little engine, or even wanted to try ! It is not exactly complicated, no ridiculously difficult parts to make, and it does not have many parts. I have other animations on opochka channel -- youtube, but they are a little more complicated and I don't expect anyone would consider making any of them !
