I converted mine a while back and have some photos in my albums.

A bit of a lash up I know but it works well.

The new motor is obviously a lot heavier and I was concerned about the weight causing a twist ? So slung it underneath.

I would be very interested in seeing a different way of doing it.

You're about right there Ian. I'm also 5'8" and I made my stand 830mm from the floor so you can make your duck board to suit.

Hi Ian,

Tray to spindle centre .. 309mm

Tray to flat of bed .. 182mm

Tray to saddle handle at 6pm ..80mm

A little tip, make it high to prevent backache.

Hello. My machine is a few years old now.It looks the same as Mechman48 shows.

My original motor didn't last too long but to be fair I abused it cutting large diameter steel.

There are some photos in my album listed as '3 phase'

Really could do with a proper Gates belt to fit the spindle pulley.

Fantastic.Thanks chaps for all your help. Linked up the driver and away it went.

Set it to jog 10 degrees. Nearly jumped out my skin when it went.

Can perhaps cut some clock wheels now.

Michael, just seen your post.Very helpful. My driver is different to yours but I'm sure we're nearly there.

Just noticed on your photos that 24v is linked to your driver.

Put 24v to the bottom left terminal and Success. The display read as it should and I went through the menu.

I have a Microstep driver M5045

On the terminal blocks to the left it shows High voltage DC in and DC earth.

Does this also need a 24v link to run the stepper motor.

Ian, I think we're getting somewhere. I put 5v in that bottom left terminal block.

I'll try 24v

I have got the latest board from Steve about a year ago.

The chip came ready programmed.

Can't upload pics since I changed to win 10.

David, not quite sure how m amps are measured ?

John, yes saw that on Steve's fault finding page. Tried it all round.. still a blank blue screen.

Will get my magnifiers on and check the board as you suggest.

I am confused though where the 2 different voltages come in?

Need to see how people have wired theirs.

When I look at a schematic drawing it doesn't make any sense to me.

That's why I like photos.

Has anyone successfully built this unit ?

I'm struggling to get it working,mainly because I don't understand electronics.

When I put 5v onto the circuit board,the display lights up but no figures appear.

When I put 24v into the driver nothing happens?

I would appreciate some pictures if anyone has any to show where the connections go,and where from.

Hope someone can help.

The motor should have a plate on it which should say whether its dual voltage or not.

Most modern motors usually are.

Anyway, at worst a new motor can be bought from ebay for under £100.

I would go for it..

That looks scary. I know next to nowt about electricity but it looks like the motor is trying to earth to the stand ?

I would get an electrician to have a look at that before I switched it on again.

A quick update. Thanks to all those who offered help.

Tried a few phone numbers, one supplied by Windy was interesting,a woman answered but her english was bad and a bad line.She got fed up and gave me a uk number to ring.

A nice man answered and convinced me I had definitely got a demo copy but not to worry,he could sort it for £40. (yeah right)

Hundreds of these copies have been sold on ebay and from high street dealers and as usual its just me who cant get it to work?

I've recently bought this off ebay for less than a tenner. A bargain I thought til I came to register it.

When I press the "Online Activation Request Form" button, nothing happens ?

The program still works ok but the clock is now down to about 23 days.

Seems like I bought a 30 day free trial for a tenner.

Has anyone else found this and is there a solution ?

I'm running Windows 10.

Bill, I'm also building Emma Victoria. It is my first loco build and it seems I'm at a similar stage to you. I have all the boiler plates flanged, bushes made and tubes cut. Just ready to start gluing it togethger. Joined the local choo choo club and will be presenting the bits to the inspector for his approval soon.

I didn't realise what a big task building a loco is but it dawns on you when you quickly get the frames done and wheels in that you've only just scratched the surface. I have retired about a month ago so will have more time to get on with it. Problem is the boss thinks the house decoration has suffered a bit lately (I think its ok) so when that's sorted it should bring the warmer weather for spending time in the workshop.

I have been recently fitting a 3 axis DRO to my milling machine oh and the Farm Boy which I thought I could quickly knock out? and the Rotary table controller all take time.

I am determined to finish Emma as I think it looks such a lovely little engine for me and grandsons to play with. It seems it has attracted a bit of criticism from the more experienced builders but I hope one day to prove them wrong?

Didn't notice about the injector but if I get that near to completion I'll just go out and buy one (us rich baby boomers do that).
