63 forum posts | re the pic of the lathe, if you follow Stubbs advice above the picture comes out Ok on your monitor, agree a 'chunky' little lathe, the gap bed would be handy..cleaned up would be a good addition to any workshop.. |

We really need to see the headstock to be sure, behind the metal guard A nice long sculpted tailstock, like a Boley or a Pultra Edited By Ady1 on 02/08/2012 01:32:11 |

259 forum posts 77 photos | I have some more pictures I will resize them and see what happens. The headstock is partly built up with thick steel 1/2" or 3/8" plates. Not a repair, but looks original. It must weigh in very heavy due to the strong outhouse construction !! The bed looks to be very over engineered as well. At the moment the saddle is stuck, probably as the lathe has not been used for some time. I was going to purchase it ,but the Myford came along the same week. This one has enough swing to skim car brake drums so would be handy for a classic car enthusiast. I could not detaect any play in the head bearings but did not check with a dial gauge, just a block of wood for a lever and by feel. I did email Tony at Lathes UK re. make, but as yet no reply, so guess he is on holiday ? If anyone is interested message me.

259 forum posts 77 photos | I have now had a chance to take four pictures of the headstock in detail. They can be found with link below. The headstock is built up out of very heavy steel plate which is rare but not unique. Mike. |
