14 forum posts | Hello.
I use Google Chrome on two different computers, at two different locations, and it would seem that there are some compatability issues.
Private Messages lead to the browser tab crashing fairly frequently and writing a thread in the main forum, the text box often "hangs" - the cursor freezes and it can take up to a couple of minutes to clear.
I am active on a large number of forums, and this is the only one that has any issues.
I wonder if someone could investigate?

863 forum posts 104 photos | I'm not sure if it will help the website developers but I'm using Internet Explorer 9 and can only post new threads or replies when I have selected the compatability mode.
When not in compatability mode and I try to add a comment or new thread and click on the Add Posting button, the page reloads and my input is lost.
Adding smilies or external photos, I get a pop up window (instead of an embedded window) which I am then unable to close without losing the whole post content.
I'd be happy to help troubleshoot with the admins/developers if you need any testing done with various browsers. Regards, |

I was getting exactly the same results as you described but I assumed it was me doing something daft! I found the only way to add a posting was to write it using Notepad then Paste Plain Text into the window, a right royal pain!
So, if this post appears, typed directly into the Post a Reply text box it will be a great advance.

I have been using Google Chrome for several years and not had any problems on this site or any other. This reply was written on line in the "reply box" after Hugh's post.

Hi, Just a test message from Google Chrome. If it arrives there appears to be no problem with my set up,
Terry

This is another message from Google Chrome running on Windows XP. Google Chrome uses about 40 DLL files from operating system. And there may be the difference...

![]() 858 forum posts 215 photos | I use Google Chrome. Post to the forum usually work just fine. However, I cannot reply to Personal Messages and have given up trying. The problem is consistent across the machines I have access to.
I tried sending a PM a couple of nights ago and gave up trying to insert a picture from by album. I had a ransom piece of script appear as well as a whole chunk of dummy infill text, which could be deleted. In the end I just mailed a link my blog.
I have to say the design and build of this forum software is not up for any prizes.
Whoever owns the site could do worse than get LBi, a real Creative design house to take look.

863 forum posts 104 photos | Ok, I've installed Chrome (version 15.0.874.106) on my PC and started playing with the debug tools. (I hasten to add I'm not part of ME staff, just a forum member trying to help out).
I can replicate a locking up state by clicking on the smiley icon or Insert Image icon within the Post-a-reply window and a no-entry sign replaces my mouse pointer. To clear that state I right click anywhere on the page and select reload from the drop-down menu. It's not a fix but saves waiting around for it to clear.
The behaviour I'm seeing is that when I select an icon in the toolbar that tries to launch a pop up window I get no window but get the no-entry mouse pointer. Looking a bit deeper with debug tools I noticed it's trying to launch these popup windows in an iframe and embedded .asp file which are not displayed to the screen.
The Post-a-reply text input window uses Cute Editor and a Loader.js script. Within that script and a few other .js scripts are entries for various web browsers but not one for Chrome. Not sure if this is required to make it work with Chrome, but I hope this might be a clue for the site Admin's.
Additionally I noticed that Chrome blocks all popup windows by default. I changed that setting to allow all popups but this did not make any difference.
Some Google searches indicated that Chrome does not like iframes that use document.write()

14 forum posts | Hello.
Looks like I am not alone.
My feeling is that there look to be a number of different issues with the forum design. I wonder if the developers have been developing in Internet Explorer, rather than something standards compliant?
It would be interesting to see if anyone is having any issues with Apple's Safari - it uses the same engine as Chrome does.

Rob,
I called no one on this forum, except to report the issues I have encountered, If I knew the answers to those problems, then I would share the answers.
I did comment that I don't believe the design and build of the code is particularly great.
I didn't think that was a particularly contentious thing to say.
