57 forum posts 14 photos | I am building a free lance locomotive and as many of you will know this can been a lot of time spent looking for parts in books and then doing the calculations to get the scale size. With this in mind I have written a short program to do the calculations for me. I first wrote it for Ubuntu and then for windows but I need someone to try it to make sure it work OK for everyone and not just me. I have written it to calculate 3.1/2, 5, 7.1/4 and 10.1/4 from the prototype size and give the answers in hundredths inches and of a hundredths millimetre. If there is someone who would like to give it a try for me let me know and when I know it is OK if anyone would like a copy the it is free. James. |

57 forum posts 14 photos | Hi David Where do you want me to send a copy. The program is small enough to send as an attachment to an email, you will just have to change the extension from EX1 to EXE as I do not think you can send execute file over the net still. Regards James |

612 forum posts 50 photos | The basic html for a download link is: <A HREF="eBook101upd.zip"target="_blank"">ebook101upd</A> This is a simple html page with a few downloads, including the above link. You will need to upload the file to a homepage server first, or somewhere like that. Maybe model engineer lets you upload .exe files, like it does with pictures. If a .exe file is rejected, because of security issues, change the file extension to something like .zzz , it should then allow a file upload, and then let folks know they have to change the extension once the file has been downloaded. To view the html code for a not-protected page right click your mouse on the page in question and click on "view page source" |

344 forum posts 17 photos | You could use one of the free file hosting and sharing services eg http://www.filedropper.com a Google search for "free file sharing hosting" should turn up a whole lot more. After uploading a file from your computer, you are given a URL that others can use for downloading. |
