Hello,
I am new to the forum and as an old engineer (28 years ago) I am trying to pick up the threads again for my retirement.
Does anyone have copies of the drawings for the clutch that apparently came with issue 5.
Any info would be most welcome.
Thanks,
              Steve.

Hello Steve,

It just so happens this was the first MEW issue I bought, and as I don't have a Myford, I only gave the plans a passing look.

What was it you wanted to know?

Regards,
Jim

Adam.

First post to MEW forum.

As per Adam's last post, is it possible to get a copy of the plans? I have printed out the article, but drawings would make life easier.

Have acquired a 60yrs younf ML7 which means it is slightly older than I am, but its original Hoover motor is telling that I need a clutch!

Can anyone help please?

Thanks

Richard (NZ)

Hi all,

I scanned these drawings a couple of years ago for a chap in Australia, still have the files in pdf, so can send them, subject to server capacity, in short time.

If anyone would like a set, send me a PM with email address.

Phil

Thanks for all responses. Really helpful for a new member.

Have PM'd to John.

I've known about (and lusted after) Myfords since I was 14 (Model Engine Encyclopaedia, c1968), and now I have one. Having used a Unimat for 25 years or so for modest sized stuff, its great to have the bigger machine. But size isn't everything and I have a lot of learning to do. In fact the reason I didn't go Chinese (was looking at Seig SC4 and 6's) was mainly that I knew I would be tapping into decades of accumulated wisdom. Seems I was right.

Meanwhile if anyone is remotely interested in what can be done on a Unimat there is an entry in the Gallery on the Model Engine News Dec 2012 page. I am now working on a Mills 075 replica which will have benefitted from both Unimat and Myford. Will broadcast more when finished.

Thanks again.

Richard

Thanks to John C I now have the drawings.

Puzzled by what actually causes the clutch to stay engaged ie spring to force cone into ring. Maybe that will be clear when I print out the dwgs. I can see the small spring providing return pressure for disengaging shaft, but not what forces the clutch closed again. Anyone care to explain? Probably very obvious!

Cheers

Richard
