Dasqua tools?

Evening all,

Contemplating some new micrometers, I need to measure 100 - 150mm range things more accurately/repeatably than with very-near callipers.

I don’t really have the budget for mitutoyo, and given M&W seem to be generic Chinese now I looked at the other options.

Noticed Dasqua brand - never heard of them, but seem to be cheap enough and claiming DIN compliance.

Anyone got actual experience with them?

When I wanted a bit more ease of operation, I went directly to Arc Euro Trade. Unfortunately (afaIk) they only do digis up to 100mm.

i've no personal experience of the brand, but others on here have given favourable reports. Chronos have their 125 to 150mm micrometer at a sale price at the moment. 100 to 150mm don't seem to be available.

RDG don't do larger than 75 to 100mm ones, unless you want a six-piece set at £180 a pop.

I have their 0-25mm and 25-50mm versions, had no problems with them.

I have bought some Dasqua kit from Chronos and I am very pleased with the quality.

I have 4 Dasqua outside micrometers from 0..25 to 75..100 (From HBM Netherlands). These are absolutely not the quality of Mitutoyo but more than accurate enough for hobby use. I would buy them again without hesitating.

I also bought 4 Dasqua inside micrometers from 5..30 to 75..100 (From HBM Netherlands). I have returned the set because it looked like they where (mis)used/tested/unboxed and 3 of 4 micrometers didn't turn smoothly.

You would need to buy two Dasqua micrometers from Chronos 100mm-125mm and 125mm -150mm.

considering getting a full set, as I don’t have any metric mics at the moment

Dave may be worth a look at Amadeal, see shopping partners on here, I use imperial mostly but did buy a set 0 -100 mm form Amadeal and have to say the quality is amazing for the price, they were about £40 when I bought them, now £55

However they seem to do larger sets by other makers, at least a different design but there is a new set 0 - 200 at £168 which appear to be the same tools as the ones I purchased.

The Dasqua also look to be nice tools, some of the Eastern makes are IMO chunky and not "nice" tools, Dasque look to be fine in this respect ??

I've got a couple of Dasqua tools (not Mics though) and very happy with the design and build quality for the price.

I have a Dasqua surface plate (18" square ish) and it is really good for the price (it was very cheap !) but there is a 'feelable' mark about the size of a match head in 1 of the corners so I suspect it is someone else second .. perfectly usable and way more than flat enough for a workshop.

I also have a 0 - 150 depth mic and as has been said, by no means Mitutoyo but very good for the price, smooth and pretty well made.

I have bought some Dasqua rulers and a dial calliper so far.

All are CNC and laser cut, and very nice tools. The dial calliper is for my 3D printing and is nicely made. It is quick to read and there is no battery to run down, so my original callipers - which ate batteries - have stayed in their box ever since !

Cannot speak for accuracy and quality of Dasqua tools at accuracies below calliper level, but they generally seem well designed and made, and certainly worth considering.

Not necessarily a second. I recall surface plate standards allow a margin. Te flat surface doesn't have to be correct all the way to the edges, perhaps because margins are harder to grind perfectly and are prone to damage.

I have an 8" digital height gauge and a 6" digital caliper of that make and can throughly recommend them. The Dasqua 6" digital caliper is as smooth as my Mitutoyo and Tesa's, larger numbers and 1/3 of the price.

I have a Dasqua 75-100mm mic. It seems nicely made - the action is very smooth. Checking with grade 1 gauge blocks it's good to the width of a graduation mark (2 microns?) over its range, so spot-on for practical purposes in a home workshop I'd say.

It's always worth having a look at G&M tools for second-hand measuring equipment. At the moment they have a 100-125mm Starrett mic up for £20 - without setting bar unfortunately, but likely a good instrument.

I find Dasqua to be good value for money and was not disappointed with my purchases but you are not buying Starrett or Mitutoyo cheaply. M&W seem to have embraced an economy range which again seems to be value for money but is not the standard of their best tools from years gone by, I haven’t bought any of their high end range in recent times so don’t know if they have maintained their quality.
