396 forum posts 111 photos | Just bought this but no name or company on the tool or box, seems quite old. Anyone able to identify it and it's purpose? |

2356 forum posts 47 photos | I agree with Noel it is for measuring sheet material thickness - but it may be specifically intended for measuring the wall thickness of thinwall pipe. |

396 forum posts 111 photos | Some more photos as promised:- As it's a verdict gauge would it be safe to assume that it's a verdict groove comparitor? Full set of accessories plus a couple of odd ones. What would the extra clamp on the right of the pic be for? Roger |

1243 forum posts 202 photos | Yes a comparator for measuring internal grooves, used one many time and have one with all accessories -- I'll take some photos later. Made or sold by Verdict, would work for bores but there are much better tools available for this. John |

1243 forum posts 202 photos | Some more photos of mine, as you will see there are several probes that can be interchanged to use on very narrow groves and to increase the usable diameter. I use either a calliper or micrometer to make the initial zero, with care they can give good accuracy. The additional clamp is I believe so the dial gage can be used units own on a scribing block etc. |

1071 forum posts | I have a similar device without the pistol grip. It is a real PITA to set, and I have little confidence it will hold adjustment. I do have an attachment for my 6" caliper for measuring grooves, provided the diameter is large enough. |
