383 forum posts 101 photos | They are good videos! Solid information from people who really know. Damascus is absolutely right, but common use of the term now includes any patterned steel including pattern-welded, wootz, and powder. The vids are about wootz: crucible steel specifically. Excellent. FYI I don't think there is a better book to start learning about metallurgy than Verhoeven's: https://www.researchgate.net/publication/268324669_Steel_Metallurgy_for_the_Non-Metallurgist I might even suggest there isn't a better book. 2308 forum posts 33 photos | The advent of Forged in Fire and the like have brought the often used but little understood term Damascus Steel to the fore ! A friend of mine who should know better, will insist that a japanese sword I have is Damascus Steel, because it is patterned ! It was takenoff a japanese officer during the war, All I know is it's rather sharp ! Noel. Edited By noel shelley on 11/02/2023 14:41:55 |
