Digital Archive - Again!

After weeks of delays I have at last been able to renew my print + Digital subscription to MEW. I now find that the new archive software only gives me access to issues back to 01/03/2020 plus three odd issues from 2010.

Any idea how I can access other issues that I have already paid for?

PS. I have tried both Firefox and Chromium browsers but the results are identical.

Thanks Jason. I guess I (and others) will have to be patient. Pity the system could not have been tested properly before replacing the old one though.

Hi everyone. Just a bit of back story. When Mortons acquired four titles (ME MEW MB RCM&E) from MyTime Media, the archive system didn't come with it.

In the past few weeks, we have had to build four brand new archives from scratch, integrate it with our publishing system and subscription system, and rename and upload 100s of magazines in date order.

This has been a mammoth undertaking for us, and we are still at it.

I'm happy to say that there will be at least 100 new issues in the ME archive by midnight tonight, and at least another 100 by the end of the week.

Apologies for how long it's taking, but this wasn't a case of just switching something over.

Give me a shout if you have any problems or questions.

Good afternoon. By this evening, the Model Engineering archive should be complete. Let me know if you find any problems or anything missing.

We will then look at completing Worksop and Boats (RCM&E is done)

Darren, one thing I have noticed is if I go to Magazines, select ME or MEW and then login it does not take me to the latest mag but the first one from when your new viewer became active. Eg Model Engineer opens 4693 not 4696 so I have to then get archive up and select the latest issue.

Also ME does not seem to be getting updated regularly to latest issue on the homepage or top of other pages, still a couple of issues behind

On the current issue, i'm just trying to track down who should be doing that!

Great work Darren, I look forward to seeing the MEW Archive fill up.

And for forum members - it's worth the wait the new reader is MUCH better! All the features you have asked for.

The resolution of the scans for the early years' MEWs in the new archive is worse than in the old archive, making the drawings illegible in many cases. I understand that there is a trade-off between file size and resolution but, with cheap storage and fast internet these days, I would opt for better resolution every time.

Any indication on when the remainder of the MEW issues missing from the archive will be uploaded ?

Hi Chris - I'm glad you asked that! The rest are uploading as I type this, I have some processing to do and the whole archive should be complete by midnight!

Darren, one thing I have seen is on the off chance that I go to Magazines, select ME or MEW and login it doesn't take me to the most recent mag however the first from when your new watcher became dynamic. Eg Model Designer opens 4693 not 4696 so I need to then get document up and choose the most recent issue.
