Thanks for the information I have been receiving from all. If anyone out there has a early Drummond lathe they are looking to sell I would be interested. Early 1900. Regards Ray

You've got to use ebay and your local selling sites

Most of the decent ones left are down south but I got a near immaculate one in fife 6 months ago 350quid

My days of overnight 17 hour roud trips to pick up stuff I fancy are behind me

I waited and watched for over 2 years and had already spotted 2 or 3 down Birmingham/London way

Get a late model, post 1924, which has the hand rack feed for the carriage and the v-belt spindle pulley wheels, the headstock is really good on those ones

An advert in the “wanted” ads would be more appropriate, than a thread which will hang around for eternity - and likely disappear from the forum top page view in a day.

Hi Raymond. I have an M Type Drummond lathe but it's not for sale. Have a look, on the Drummond web site https://groups.io/g/drummondlathe/topics?p=recentpostdate/sticky,,,20,2,0,86539441

There is likely to be someone with one to sell or know of one about ask on there. This is my lathe I have had for a few years.

If you need any info about the M Type just drop me a line.

Hi Lee,

Welcome to the forum - If you can post a picture of the lathe and the broken bit it'll be easier for people to see what needs replacement or even whether you might be able to carry out a repair.

This thread explains how to make an album & post pictures;

How to post pictures / photographs...

..there's a machine tool archive here with a section on Drummonds that might help you identify which exact model you have;

I have a Drummond Roundbed where the saddle was cracked and it took several years before I found a replacement on eBay - and they made many, many more Roundbeds than double bed lathes.

Good luck hunting, but is a professional welded repair possible?

Pictures would help for getting advice

I've welded a few bits on my Drummonds, good quality cast iron seems to be pretty easy to glue together

Might not be Lloyds A1 stuff but it does do the job
