I feel sure DaveD, that you’ll have come across the superb series of videos from Chris of Clicksprings ...

**LINK**

If not, take a visit if only for his quality of workmanship and presentation.

Here in particular is the first of his ten Antikythera episodes ...

The Antikythera Mechanism Episode 1 - Greeks, Clocks and Rockets.

**LINK**

Then there is this book which Chris mentions …

‘Gears from the Greeks’

The Antikythera Mechanism--A Calendar Computer from CA. 80 B.C.

by Derek De Solla Price

**LINK**

I don't think you'll be disappointed.

Cheers,

Sam

When you download the referenced paper, Sam ... be sure to look at the [online] supplementary information, which features some excellent animated 3D models.

Please excuse my lassitude Michael.

Regrettably, laziness on my part seems of late to have become an undesirable complication .

PS Your guidance is always welcome.

As an avid (or so I thought {but clearly not compared to Michael and Sam}) I was under the impression that the work of Chris at clickspring was not related to the work by Tony Freeth. If so, this would mean that the BBC article doesn't tell the whole story.

Can someone clarify this?

David.

Those animations are brilliant. I can't imagine how anyone managed to create something like that 2000 years ago.

Aliens? Time travelers? devil

.

I think it was clarified in the recent thread that I started, David

Clickspring is one of the contributing authors of the work documented in HJ.

BBC articles rarely tell the whole story !

Wrong chap. You're thinking of Earache von Heineken, inventor of the Bermondsey Triangle.

Sadly this is a common occurrence in news reporting. If ever a news report turns up that I have some personal knowledge of I am appalled by the lack of accuracy and understanding shown.

I think it was clarified in the recent thread that I started, David

As I duck for cover David (Colwill), I must offer a correction.

Other than keeping an eye on and reporting Clickspring Chris’s wonderful work (not only his approach to building the Antikythera), my involvement is purely as a spectator.

Credit must go to others, Michael in particular.
