![]() 25215 forum posts 3105 photos 1 articles | Unlikely, even if the current lockdown is lifted by then things like social distancing will still be in place. With punters at 2m apart you won't be able to let many through the door so ticket sales will be much reduced. If footfall is going to be that low then traders are not going to pay for space as takings will be down so I can't see any show organizer wanting to make a certain loss. |

1395 forum posts 30 photos | my own guess is 2022 at the earliest and even then I suspect covid precautions will still be in play as the virus will have probably evolved sufficiently further along the South African lines to require new vaccination for most |

10668 forum posts 2415 photos | No one knows! Covid's a virus, it mutates, and it's unusually persistent. Last week I heard the original Chinese version is undetectable now. Viruses replicate far faster than organisms and a year is plenty of time to evolve. Each new generation of the virus is slightly different, and a few branches of the family have proved more dangerous than others. Unpleasant variations have appeared in South Africa, Brazil, and the UK, but the virus can mutate anywhere in the world and almost certainly is. In the UK two different exceptionally nasty variants have been detected. Not because the UK is a plague pit, more likely because we happen to have world-class facilities for testing DNA and can detect new variants faster than most. Although mutation is scary in science fiction, Covid is as likely to degrade in the real world as it is to burst out. It might just fade into the background. At the moment the only way of controlling Covid is to make it harder for people to spread it: isolate, wear masks, keep clean, and ban unnecessary meetings etc. If the vaccines prove effective and continue to work over time, or the virus naturally fizzles out, then the number of people made seriously ill will drop to an acceptable level and we can all go back to normal. Also heard on Radio 4, two attempts to answer the question: If all the Covid virus in the world were collected together, how much space would it take up? The answers were on the same page: low estimate, about a small shot-glass full, high estimate, half a can of Coca Cola, roughly 150ml. We live in interesting times. Dave

![]() 145 forum posts 41 photos | My thinking was that if you consider the age profile of the people who will attend the show, then the vast majority will have had at least one jab and a significant number will have had the second. Also, last night, Boris mentioned that to open places such as night clubs (where people are in very close proximity to each other) they may be able to use rapid testing prior to entry. Why can't we introduce testing prior to the show and have to provide evidence at the door that you have tested negative. Hope the organiser of the show is following this thread. The above being said I'm not overly optimistic. Hopefully the Midlands Show will make it, Alan. |

On that basis some under 60’s may not have received both jabs by the end of this year. Hopefully we can resume these sort of things next year. |

Before you say these are not vulnerable people in any sense of the word, so just a case of more vaccine and open appointments than envisaged. So I fully expect numbers to be met until the working population is started, then it will be a question of hours available after working day to enable numbers to be achieved. |

![]() 145 forum posts 41 photos | Last night on TV they announced that all over 50's and those aged 16 - 64 with underlying problems (total circa 17M) would receive the first jab by end of April. Also during last nights news the presenter's were criticising Boris for being to cautious, when compared to the current rate of injection progress. They were estimating that if the current rate is maintained then all over 50's and 16 - 64's would be completed by end March!!

![]() 500 forum posts 31 photos | There was a fascinating snippet on the radio the other day about Covid 19. What volume would it take up, some chap was asked, if you could scoop up the entire Planet Earth supply of the virus? A swimming pool or two? A thimble? It turns out (after some nifty work with a calculator) that the answer is about the average coffee mug. Would that it were possible to scoop it up and fire it off into space or somewhere... Hope to meet up at Doncaster in 2022! |
