I’ve got a Stuart 10v on order with Maidstone supplies it’s been since the 26th of Dec. Is this par for the course with these kits? Or have I chosen badly with my supplier?

With the post office having so many delays it's more likely that is the cause of the delay, read today some areas have not had a postal delivery for 28days.

Don't know what their Xmas holidays were but a lot of businesses closed up and only opened on the 4th so may not have been dealt with until then.

As MG says I generally get my Stuart stuff direct from them.

Nick

In normal times I believe a supplier has 28 days to fulfill an order.

I ordered two castings from Stuarts a few months ago and they took a long time to arrive. I still consider them good suppliers. It is just the times we are living through.

JA

Like a lot of similar firms Stuarts may be very busy at present. Some firms are doing well supplying anything (craft, models, motorcycle restoration parts, etc) that will keep people occupied.

Just looked and Maxitrak were closed until the 4th so as they own Maidstone Eng also likely to be closed so only a week since they were likely sent. Send an e-mail to see when they were sent.

Ah duly noted. Stuart were closed so went for the eBay store that claimed to be open. We live and learn. Looking forward to getting into my first project.
I’ve spoken to Maidstone a couple of times. Last week it was coming last week, this week it’s coming this week. Hence me starting to wonder. If they are a known name then I’m sure it’ll turn up.

Nick,

Maidstone Engineering have been around for many years but there was a change owners. They used to have a stand at the defunct Brighton Modelworld Exhibition. They should be OK to do business with. Latest national news is that Post Office is in trouble with so many staff of sick that they can't deliver Mail as quickly as usual. "Snail Mail" is a very unkind and generally unjustifiable nickname.

For RM parcels, may I suggest using one of the tracked delivery services, such as 48 hour tracked.
It doesn't cost that much more, particularly when compared to the value of a more expensive order.

I have it on good authority that the timed orders such as this are more likely to appear, as they will form part of a service delivery analysis.

i.e. RM warehousing overloaded, due to Covid staff shortages, and Covid safe working environments, so priority process timed packages.
