Hi

During the lockdown I started getting interested in metal working again, not really done much since school many yes ago!

I have a small model lathe and basic tools to start making simple steam projects etc. Been watching loads of utube videos so now I'm an expert !

Will be looking for a mill, just can't decide which one yet.

Richard

To be a real expert you need to read and absorb all the posts from a year or two of this forum wink There is a lot to do with the lathe before you need a mill so you can spend some of your money on bits of metal to turn into swarf first. have fun.

Hi Richard welcome to the forum. You never finish learning about metal plastics and machining them at nearly 70 and an engineer since an apprentice at 17 years old i am still learning and still making the odd error or mistake. Join a group or club if you can, there is always someone with hands on experience if only how to make a tool or show you anything.

Ty for the welcome, hopefully I will join a club, once we are out of lockdown and able to meet up again. Till then I'll keep looking for ideas to make into swarf!

Hi the lathe seems to do what I want, but needs a few of the modifications! Without a mill its down to drills and file's good job the bits I'm making are Ali!

Trouble is its not just a mill its all the other bits needed which mount up, if they are needed.
