Sieg Mill from ArcEurotrade

After a lot of deliberation I think I'm probably going to go for a Sieg mill from ArcEurotrade, does anyone know if they have sales or special offers? I'm not in a screaming rush but I'll happily wait if I'm likely to save a few pennies (it's a huge purchase for me).

I do believe that the prices from ArcEurotrade have been reduced. I can thoroughly recommend them for excellent service. You should not be disappointed. I have no connection with them apart from being a satisfied customer.

I wish I knew the answer. Could make a fortune on the Stock Exchange if I did! I predict zigzags, no idea how many or how big, when, or what effect they will have, if any. Apart from that, situation normal...

Meanwhile the cat just knocked over my coffee. Now that's a proper crisis!

I bought their smallest model as that was all that would fit into my workshop. Excellent service, price and delivery.

When commissioning it on the Friday afternoon the table jammed up due to some unknown reason (which turned out to be an error on my part). When I rang at about closing time I was asked if I would care to ring back as the guy who would be best to help me would be in at 9:30 on Saturday. No guessing. No "I think....." No Dunnos. Just immediate and clear information on who would be the best person to sort me out and when he would be available.

I rang back when asked and the person I wanted to speak to answered the phone and the solution was explained to me there and then.

Not only good customer service but the next level up in my opinion as the first person knew who I needed to speak to (we can't all be experts in everything) and they knew when they would be available, and the person the next day solved my issue immediately.

I will buy again from Arc - in fact I think I have done so already.

I have used Arc several times including a new Sieg mill. Excellent service from the boss Ketan. just after I bought the machine I had trouble with the digital readout on the quill, turned out to be my fault but I had a response from my email the next day (Saturday afternoon when they phoned and had a good chat) My wife has also dealt with them several times for b'day/chrissy presents and can't speak highly enough, no mean feat I can tell you!

Based on my experience as a small spending customer; (Have only twice spent more that £100 in one transaction, often less than £25 ) if i were in the market for a new machine, ARC Euro would be my first port of call.

In response to Jason, Dave and potential customers who have called to enquire about SIEG machines which are out of stock, this is the current situation:

We ran out of stock of the following machines as indicated:

SX3.5DZP a few months ago.

SC3 stock ran out on 5th March 2020

SX2P stock ran out yesterday 12th March 2020

Following machines we expect to run out of stock within the next 20 to 30 days, provided there are people out there wanting to buy in the current climate, and provided we and/or the logistics companies are able to deliver.:

SC2-300, SX1LP, SX2.7L, SX3

We have enough stocks of the following machines to keep us going for a while:

SC4-510 and SX2.7

Initially we were expecting deliveries of new stock by mid April. This was then extended to mid-May (for those who saw the mid-May date on our website, and were guided accordingly during your phone calls to us), but now this have been extended to 1st June 2020.

As Dave said, it is zigzag or see-saw. We have potential customers for items we don't have in stock at present. We don't know if there will be any trading activity taking place in the U.K., when the machines arrive, and/or if the potential customers who want the machines now will be prepared to wait until the new goods arrive.

Based on the response from an emergency meeting held at the factory this morning, we are estimating shipment for some of the goods we have ordered to take place between 15th to 30th April, subject to the factory getting some of the components required to finish off making some of the larger machines. Some of these component supplier factories still remain closed. Also, about 18 machine assemblers are still stuck in locked down areas. So these shipment dates remain as indicative.

Having discussed this with other importers, it is my understanding that they too are in a similar position to us for items which are out of stock.

Just to close the loop:

My mill has been delivered and finally bolted down (it arrived long before I had the space cleared for it!).

The quality seems very good, my only complaint was that the DRO didn't work at first; removing the battery, wiping it clean of oil and refitting it soon sorted that. It seems to be a fine machine, and the starter set I purchased with it (at additional cost) really does have some excellent quality bits in to get you started. Really pleased with the machine and the service received.

This post (and the ones above it) have convinced me to make my next mill purchase from Arc.

Now, all I need is the SX3.5 with a 3MT spindle and no DRO. Even better would be a tilting head.

What are my chances for the next batch to arrive back in stock with that specification???

SX3.5ZP with R8 spindle (means without DRO), current estimate Mid-December...early January 2021 if we are lucky. Price to be decided nearer to when the goods are shipped.

Unfortunately ARC don't stock 3MT.

Thanks Ketan. Definitely in the market for one, guess I can just use an adaptor so I can keep all my existing 3MT tooling

I would prefer an R8 milling spindle any day of the week, also what existing lathe tooling will you use on the mill apart from a drill chuck & maybe a collet chuck?

I too would change the tooling as you will get a lot of stick out using adaptors
