Spring's a-coming

I know the storms in UK seem to be never-ending but the fig and cherry-plum trees have been in blossom here for two weeks now. Best of all though is that yesterday mid-day MrsD called me outside to see and hear the dances (I cheated and looked it up = herd or dance ) of cranes flying over on their way to North and North-east Europe. They always stop over our village, wheel around before re-forming into V's and heading off North again.
They know better than the forecasters when Spring's a-coming !

Spring:

1. It does not arrive on 1 March what ever the Met Office says.
2. It does not arrive on the equinox what ever happens at Stonehenge.
3. Usually it is one or two weeks in late April.

Until then my workshop is cold and only usable on warm days (above 10 degrees C) when the heating can cope.

Bad choice of picture, JA, snowdrops can flower before Christmas, any year.

Location, location... On the sunny side of the road to town the daffs are flowering. Mine won't be out for another month 'cos they're on the north side of the ridge and i'll see the south facing primroses first.

I need to hope the weather puts off my fig, peach and apricot blossom as long as possible to have any chance of a crop of those in Wales - a case of lucky years. But then i get more blackcurrants than i can cope with.

Horses for courses.

Spring here is when you can walk on the grass without sinking in...

On a sombre note. My daughters dog ate a Daffodil today. It's a French Bulldog puppy. At vets a while & the bill is going to be £800. WTH that is ridiculous.

I feel sorry for the puppy too Steve.

Normally in southern Victoria (Australia) as we enter autumn (which is supposed to begin 1st March), lawns (and most other ground cover) have turned a brown crispy mess with little to mow but dust.

Reflecting upon previous years, I’ve only needed to water the garden two or three times in the whole of summer.
