Thread: I'm In Love With PETG |
02/03/2023 12:36:49 |
I have been using PETG for quite a while and find it varies so much from different suppliers. My go to one now is from "Sunlu", 240 nozzle temp and 90 bed temperature using pritt stick on bed. This works very well on my Ender 5+. I also use PLA+ a lot appears to be more robust than ordinary PLA and easier to print than PETG, ABS, Nylon. Just printed some gears for a rail bender with PLA+ instead of Nylon and working fine so far. JC |

I have just read article on building a Steam Raising Blower by Cliff Almond, just what I need. Are the drawings for the laser cut parts available? JC |
Thread: ML7 Spindle Lock |
09/02/2022 12:13:58 |
Just printed one of these locks in the wrench form and found it a superb fit and does exactley "what it says on the tin". Some technical details for the other 3D printer users , I used PETG with 8 walls, a layer height of 0.2mm, 55% infill, nozzle temp 235C and bed temp 85C. Printing time 5 hours, cost of filament £1.40. JC |
Thread: ML7 Bull Wheel Dimensions? |
09/02/2022 11:59:10 |
I have just printed one (in PETG) and found it perfect for the job. JC |
07/02/2022 14:13:59 |
Nigel what filament did you use for the bull wheel lock please? I thought either PETG or ABS. I find PETG surprisingly robust. JC |
Thread: ML7 Spindle Lock |
07/02/2022 14:08:45 |
Many thanks Tony for posting this item. I have printed several items for my ML7 on 3D printer and found them very cost effective and usefull. These include a 127T changewheel, a rack to hold my set of changewheels etc. I am still surprised at the abuse some of my 3D items can withstand, locomotive buffers and axle boxes for example. John |
Thread: Vacuum Limiting Valve |
24/01/2022 15:56:05 |
I am asking for a non computer friend so not sure myself. The one that I have seen looks like a "mushroom" with an adjuster on the bottom, it has a rubber/plastic diaphragm inside. The top main piece was about 20mm across. The nearest thing that I can think of similar appearance is "Petrol Miser" from the 1960s. JC |
22/01/2022 15:28:19 |
Has anybody got a drawing for a Vacuum Limiting/relief valve please? I think that one appeared in Model Engineer recently but I am unable to access archive even though I have a digital subscription until my renewal. I have found a drawing in ME from 1981 but believe there was a more recent drawing. Many thankc John |

Thread: Aircraft General Discussion |
08/07/2021 17:08:11 |
Superb day today, Spitfire doing aerobatics nearly over the village, then a flyover by the Dakota. A couple of other 2nd WW type aircraft flew over but beyond my limited knowledge for identity. Still watching for the Lancaster, not seen or heard it this year yet. |
Thread: Is this a new scam? |
30/04/2021 21:30:32 |
I for one will not be selling on eBay anymore. They keep the payment for two days but you still have to post the item within your three day posting time. No way to link payment from funds recieved to Hermes etc. John |
Thread: Melton Mowbray and District Model Engineers |
17/04/2021 20:25:40 |
The Melto Mowbray and District Model Engineering Society is pleased to announce that we will be holding a Gala at Whissendine on 7th and 8th August 2021. We have been very busy at Whissendine and have been extending the Ground Level track. Once finished this will double the track length. We are trying very hard but it does not look like we will have it completed by August. We will still be running on the original ground level and the raised track. Hopefully we will have the road run (to the local pub) as usual. More details will be available shortly when we have sorted and organised the details. We hope to see as many MM&D MES members as possible and hopefully some members from other clubs. Watch this SPACE. John |
