Lil Mo Completion with printed spiral flywheel

Here is my completed Lil Mo engine with a 3D printed flywheel. Seems to run the same with either flywheel attached. Just waiting for the Oak mounting base from my brother in law's woodworking shop. Best holiday wishes to all!

Rotate them on your computer and save as a new image. Your camera or ipad has rotated them.

How does that drip feed oiler work? air/steam pressure will want to blow back out of it and even if you had a non-return valve there would be no vacuum to open it.

Displacement Lubricators

A displacement lubricator is basically just a closed oil tank with a small pipe connecting it to the main steam pipe which feeds the cylinders.

Steam from the main steam feed pipe enters the oil tank and condenses into water. Due to the difference in specific gravity between water and oil, the oil floats on top of the water. As the water level increases it displaces the oil which runs into the main steam pipe. The oil is then picked up by the steam flow where it is atomised and emulsified and carried to the cylinders. (Will only work with steam, not air as the oil has to float on the condenced water).

The process is continuous, and repeats until all the oil is gone.

A filler plug is fitted to permit filling with oil, and a small drain plug is fitted to the base of the oil reservoir for draining the condensed water.

A needle shut off valve is sometimes provided in the oil feed pipe to regulate oil flow, and to prevent any steam under pressure in the piping escaping though an open filler.

Paul, I know how displacement ones work but that lubricator is OPEN where you watch the drip

Here we go again. Seems like any photo taken with cell phone in portrait format gets rotated 90 deg. on posting but if you take photo in Landscape format it post as normal, without any rotation.

I use software (Photoshop or other) to rotate the photos before uploading to MEW

Its hard to see in the photo, but there should be a glass tube inside the brass opening so you can monitor the the number of drips of oil passing thru.

But on closer inspection, I could be wrong. It looks like a standard drip lubricator as used on bearings, not a displacement lubricator. Will be interested to find out.

Any Idea what is causing a 90 deg. rotation of photo's taken that are normal and then when post they rotate 90 Deg. when posted? I have tried taking and posting in the landscape and portrait position nd then posting with the same poor result! Photo's were all taken with a cell phone camera and sent to a computer file for uploading into my album and ultimate posting on this web site. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Bob E

You may need to identify the 'phone before anyone can provide much help, Bob.

The underlying problem seems to be that these things are too clever for their own good [or at least for our sanity].

It's because your phone records the orientation of the photo in its meta-data but doesn't actually rotate the image. Windows is able to read the orientation data and display the image the right way up. The forum software can't access this metadata so you have three choices:

1. Open the photo in an editing program and make sure it is rotated to correct orientation and resave it.
2. Insert into your post then immediately click 'edit post', once the editor opens right click the image and select 'rotate 90 degrees' in the appropriate direction and save the edited post. It is possible that some users can't access this editing option.
3. Take photos using your phone in landscape mode

It could also be that Robert is seeing them the right way on his machine but not saving them the right way round.

As I said on the first post under the photo I rotated Neil's No 1 works best or just take all photos for the forum with phone in landscape mode.
